HUH? What does educational background have to do with having over half of one's income taken and given to those who don't deserve it, or to fund things I don't support?

If I'm better educated I could bend over more easily?

Umm....If this is happening to you I suggest getting outta the  cult or away from the human trafficker! 😳

A lost art in today's schools. I ask kids to read Atlas Shrugged or Animal Farm  and they can't do it. It is books in general and the time needed to focus on one topic and it is impossible for most of them. Easy to manipulate when your whole world is emotional and lacks any knowledge of history.

I guess you know that Animal Farm was written by a socialist who was anti-communist, and anti Nazi, i.e., anti-totalitarian.  A goal of his socialism was to narrow the gap between the rich and the poor, perhaps like the mixed system of Paul Goodman.  His socialism resembled the views of some of the figures looming large in the American landscape today.  He valued freedom and was well aware the various kinds of totalitarianism that threaten all forms of government and all forms of social organization, as mirrored in the end of Animal Farm, to say nothing of 1984.

As to "kids" who can't read Atlas Shrugged or Animal Farm, the college students I have known, day in day out for about 35 years, read up a storm.  The stand on campus and on street corners and sit in coffee shops debating the fine points.  And, yes, some of them admire the Western Tradition, and some are conservative.  They are nothing like homogeneous in their beliefs, and neither are their professors. There are even a few Angry White Males among them.  It is true that about 60% of them are pretty liberal, but, as a group, their votes are not in anyone's pocket.  Some (~~30% ?) aren't particularly academically talented, but it is amazing how many of that ~~ 30% surprise us.  Dave A, I'm going to try to send you an annotated chart of political orientation as a PM.  IMO, 60% or so of college students are probably toward the middle of the lower left quadrant.

You guys think we have it bad?  Women have to deal with "Critical Becky Studies" now.

It's easy to laugh at some of this--the alternative may be to cry--but while our society is busy 'interrogating' whiteness and such, other countries such as China are actually focusing on things like science--real science--and this is why the new century will belong to them and not us.  Heck, it's not hard to imagine the day when our country ends up belonging to them and not us.  Sadly, we'll have earned that, in a way.

If you are having over half your income taken (by taxes, I presume) you might want to consider a new financial adviser -- unless you have a very, very large income.

We are retired, have a nice income, pay no sales tax (being on the best part of the Left Coast) and pay about 11% total income tax, state + federal.

The following program was a total and complete disaster which kept many white students out of the city university system.  Not mentioned in the article is that the “disadvantaged” students were paid $50 per week, were given transportation passes to ride to busses and subways for free, were given free meal passes for the school cafeterias, and were given an A in classes which they never attended.  There was tremendous anger in white communities over this issue:

=== well it appears the snowflake educational PC faction has now officially gone off the rails or maybe just headlong into an oncoming train. My Kansas University (KU) will be offering a course study in - Angry White Male studies. True. I literally had smoke coming from my ears when I heard this. So being slow I’m guessing this means there are no, or have not been, angry black men, brown men, Asian men or heaven forbid an angry women of any color. What would you think that if indeed the course would have been Angry Black Male studies? The school would likely be marched on for weeks on end. While I’m certainly not a donor of note I do know grads who are and who know other grads that donate six figure[emoji385]  [emoji385] yearly. I’ll be curious to see how long these life changing “studies” stand the test of pisssed off donors who keep their checkbooks close to their vest. I’ll refrain from saying what I really feel for fear this would be a one post lock — although that might be a record. I am out —

Sounds like George Soros is contributing to KU.

I'm mostly white, a little injun blood in me (more than Elizabeth Warren but I don't claim to be a native American).
I'm not particularly angry but it does wear thin being bashed all the time and told I should hold my head in shame for being white.
I must have missed the day in school when they handed out the "white privilege cards" because nothing ever came easy for me.
I had ADHD before they had a name for it, dropped out of high school and struggled for years trying to make my way in life.
Had the rug yanked out from under me more times than I can count  but clawed my way back surviving the Carter era recession and later the Obama era recession.
Now I'm pushing 63 years of age, making good money driving truck and have a pretty nice home in the country but it wasn't white privilege that got me here
it was perseverance and a lot of hard work, I've worked with blacks and Hispanics and never got any preferential treatment because I'm white.
At this point I don't see an opportunity to retire any time soon if at all, SSI isn't even beer money at 62 and I still have a mortgage.
I'm not angry but a little disappointed that after 50+ years working (started at 10 picking berries by the flat) and paying into the system what they offer is way below what's considered poverty income.
My Dad survived the Great Depression, he turned 18 just before the crash in 1929 and had been on his own since he was 13, I was raised by a man that expected self reliance.
He came from poverty and made his way on his own through the worst of times and expected the same from me.
Am I angry? Well no not really but I do get tired of all the PC BS and being called out for being a white male when I made my own way in life through the school of hard knocks.
Here's a pic of my Dad in his last year of school (8th grade) in the 1920's before he ran away from home due to stepdad issues, no white  privilege there, half the class were Indians. (lol)
He's the ornery looking cuss in the lower right corner in the overalls ,no school bus
for him he rode a plow horse to school and worked on the farmstead when he got home until dark. No white privilege there either but he was never bitter or angry about where he came from, he became a home building contractor and did pretty well.
