Insulating the wall

Open air is what they're designed for.  The only reason you may want to put insulation in the cavity is to keep sound from escaping into the adjacent room.  I have some R-5650-S for rears in my setup.  One was on an exterior wall so it had insulation.  I added insulation on the other side to perceivably keep the sound characteristics the same.
