Kris
I just bought a new PowerGate and noticed that when I change the volume using the front panel knob, it requires rotation of three notch positions up/down in order for the volume to change and the LED indicator to change. Yet on the remote control, a single press of volume up or down results in a volume change and the LED indicator to change. Does anyone else observe this behavior? glens
Probably a low-resolution encoder on the knob requires multiple steps to determine which direction it was rotated whereas the remote sends direct instructions. Are you worried about it, or troubled by the difference, or just intrigued?
Kris
I am worried that the knob is faulty or the electrical contacts are already corroded. I had a car stereo with volume knob that worked perfectly for years then began to fail in the same way.
glens
There aren't any electrical contacts, I'm sure. Does the knob rotate in any direction endlessly (with the power off, of course) or is it like in days of old where it only turns most of one turn and then stops? Also, does it require several "notches" for each step change, or only for the first one?
CraigG
I just got a PowerGate and this sounds like the same behavior I am experiencing. I've mostly been using the app, so I'll double check later. But I definitely had to turn it multiple notches before the LED display on the PowerGate would change.
mike stehr
I have a cheap Nakamichi branded car CD deck that does the same thing. You have to turn the volume pot multiple notches a couple times before it finally raises the volume. Not really surprising from a cheap car deck, however. glens
Okay, so it takes multiple notches to get going, but after that, is it still multiple notches for each step in volume change or does each change then occur with each notch (I'm expecting this to happen)? Assuming my assumption is correct, can you press any button anywhere to get the display woke up first (as if that would save time) before adjusting the knob? No, it takes three notches for the first volume/LED change and then three more notches for each additional change of volume/LED.
