I'm blaming you in advance for my loss of sleep tonight! :P

My 5 year search is at an end!

Congrats! 5 years is way too long to wait.

I got railroaded into a similar pair by another member just like you did. Still have them and still use them. Good Luck!!!

The La Scalas have left Hazeltucky and are now in Royal Oak.  Chris is planning to collect them this afternoon.  Time and weather permitting, I plan to have them on the deck and hooked up to one of my tiny chip amps and a Pono player so Chris can audition them.

Did you: "Giddy on over to Hazel Park, come on out and horse around"?

Now I'm dating myself.

Imagine my surprise a few years back when I visited Michigan and found DRC was torn down? Guess the track in HP is no longer as well. Not really my side of town.

Railroaded?  I’m 😢

Sorry, meant to say hornswoggled.

If he has been looking for five years, you did him a great service.

Those are in much better shape than the one's I ended up with. Enjoyed every minute of bringing them back to life and still enjoy them.

HRC closed in 2018.  The proliferation of legalized gambling pretty much killed horse racing.  Seems the number of people who actually cared which horse won, was very small.  The other yearly attraction was the circus, and we all know how well circuses are doing.

Last night I went through my old posts here - and I got my last set in 2011....sold them the next year I believe.  Since then I went through Magnepans, EV Sentry's, RF3's before I realized my true love...  So, while the search has been around 5 years or so.... in truth - its been nearly 8....

If I had a larger house, I'm sure I'd be a speaker hoarder...  :P

like I got railroaded...

diving in head first?

mine aren't leaving until my proverbial cold, dead hands are pried off them.

I can blame DizRotus for my bliss... Him and a few others...

I don't have room... but I can see it happening to me. Wondering if a 10 X 12 room is too small for a pair of... not Scalas...

as my wife said, "You already have some of those"

...  she may regret allowing for what I don't have....

I told my wife last night that I was working on a deal for a pair of speakers;

wife: where are you going to put them?

me: in the pole barn

wife: don't already have speakers in the pole barn?

me: it's a big pole barn

I've had many of these conversations with my wife, but what the hell is a pole barn?

Dang city slickers.

It's an inexpensive detached garage, usually open in the front, enclosed on the sides and rear and large poles like a telephone pole are used to hold up the roof.  You keep your farm tractor and implements in there, maybe a long boat on its trailer, along with fencing and anything else that is large that you might have.  The floor is typically dirt or gravel.

We have one that looks like this.

Many thanks to DizRotus - the LaScala's are now safe at home!

The work has begun to clean them up after 42 years of use and neglect.  Lots of love is going into them now - and glue, wood, new drivers, crossovers...

Not sure how I will finish them in the end... likely I'll fix all the laminate issues and paint them for the time being.  Possibly veneer down the road if I want to experiment..

From the model / serial number (LS-BR, 10R195) these are Raw Birch, from 1977.
