StormTheGates
Hello all, I have a Denon AVR-S640H receiver, and a Klipsch Reference R-112SW Subwoofer I have hooked up the LFE jack to the PreOut Subwoofer 1 jack with this cable (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003FW0WIK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1), but I am unable to get the subwoofer to be recognized. When I plug in the Sub there is a brief flash of the green LED light, but then it goes out. Setting the Sub to Standby, Auto, or On does not matter. Do I need a Y Cable to make this work? Any ideas I can check? Thank you for any help! Edited May 2, 2019 by StormTheGates
CECAA850
Welcome to the forum. Go into your receivers settings and be sure that the subwoofer is set to "on". You may need to select "small" for your speaker size.

I'd rather simply set my sub to cross over at the natural point. Dave
StormTheGates
Thank you for the quick replies I have attempted to set my settings on my receiver as follows: Setup Menu > Speakers > Manual Setup > Speaker Config > Subwoofer (Set to Yes) Front (Set to Small) Surround (Set to Small) Center (Set to Small) Setup Menu > Speakers > Manual Setup > Bass Subwoofer Mode (Set to LFE) (not LFE+Main) LPF For LFE (Set to 80hz) No luck
CECAA850
Is the gain up on the sub and in the receiver? Have you tried a different cable? Have you tried a different source like a cd player? Have you turned the crossover all the way up on the sub?
StormTheGates
Gain knob is turned all the way up New Y style cable (with additional R red plug) is coming from Amazon tomorrow I tried a Spotify song Crossovers are set to 250HZ across all speakers
babadono
Super silly question...but that's me Mr. Super Silly....no green LED and no sound? Or just no LED?

babadono
OK let's wait for the Y cable. Maybe that will do the trick. Why are the crossovers set to 250? Is that as low as main speakers can go?
StormTheGates
I tested both 250 and 80hz on the crossover. Front speakers are 2 RP-8000F 1 RP-504C Back speakers are 2 RP-280F
babadono
Does your AVR have a sub level control as well as the sub OFF/ON?
Islander
So your cable goes from Pre Out Subwoofer 1 on your receiver to LFE In on the subwoofer? Is that correct? Your first post was a little unclear.
babadono
Those front mains should go down to 80HZ easy. i would set their crossover no higher than 80HZ.
babadono
In fact set those to large and set the Bass to LFE+Main to see if we can get it going.

That seems obvious, but I wanted to be sure that the OP wasn’t overlooking something basic.

Yes I can increase the Sub level by +.5 db per tick up to I think 20db 23 hours ago, Islander said: So your cable goes from Pre Out Subwoofer 1 on your receiver to LFE In on the subwoofer? Is that correct? Your first post was a little unclear. That is correct The Y cable did not impact matters. The most response I can get out of the sub is still just a brief flash of the green LED and no sound. Thank you all for your help in trying to resolve this matter, I appreciate the communities input. Should I return the sub? Should I get a new receiver? I just got these parts off Amazon so if I need to return/switch something out nows the time to do it. babadono
So if you turn that subwoofer level control all the way up(in the AVR) with AVR set to LFE+main and the y cable installed it still does nothing? If so something is wrong but we still have 3 unknowns. The AVR, the cable and the Sub. Do you have another cable? Any cheap one will do just for a test. Or do you per chance have DMM(voltmeter, ohmeter)?
