hey Rob, welcome to the forum

couple of things

# 1 - 1979 was the first year that logo on the front grill cloth was used. if its factory original

# 2 - 1983 was the last year they stamped the serial numbers into the wood on the rear panel. so if they are 1984 and newer you won't find any stampings in the wood.

as dtr20 said above about posting what the crossovers are that would narrow it down

These were made in the latter half of the 1980s...or later. The labels are a dead giveaway...they are the glossy type that had the serial numbers printed out onto them! instead of being hand-written.  They appear to have been stored in a barn or shed with a leaking roof...or worse...for many years...they may well still be salvageable, though...but the crossover networks are pretty much history...depending upon how bad the woofers inside are, they may or may not need replacing...all of the wiring definitely will need to be replaced....this is shameful for such wonderful and beautiful speakers they could have been if not for the water/moisture damage!  This pair originally sold new for well above $3000!!  To give an idea of how much that was back then, you could buy a brand-new base model Dodge pickup for around $7000!

Thanks everyone. I don’t have much history on them. I actually found them a few years ago in the reuse center at a U-Haul storage facility where someone abandoned them and grabbed them quickly!

The crossovers look to be Type AB (the worst, no loss if they have to be tossed),  used from about mid year '82 to ?.  The squawker (black midrange) also started in about mid year '82.

When did the Type AB-2 begin?
