I've always been drawn to solid gold cases; they just have this classic appeal. A few years back, I bought a vintage piece with a sapphire crystal face, and it made a huge difference in how it looked. The clarity is unreal!

I’ve been eyeing a Patek Philippe Aquanaut replica lately, and honestly, they look incredible for the price. They really capture that luxurious vibe without breaking the bank. Sometimes, it feels nice to have a watch that looks and feels high-end without stressing over it. Plus, I love wearing something unique that sparks conversations.

Yes, I also had in mind broader definition of horology when mentioning widely popular timepieces.

But since Schu started this thread, and I see he has more streamlined view of the matter in mind, giving priority more towards the art and sophistication of making watches, I totally respect that.

OK some watches that were handed down to me

This Tissot was given to me by a client many years ago - it’s wind up and still works

These Omegas were given to me by my father in law that passed away about 10 years ago

Both need to be repaired - But need to check if the repair costs more than the watch?  Or just keep them for memory

This was given to my wife - it’s a Swiss Made Boma watch (not working) but looks cool with a solid spring bracelet band
