Mila1924
Hi, I saw this DIY screen on a guys blog. Anyone have any experience. This would give me a nice sense of security since my 2 year old is almost getting tall enough to touch my gear. Thoughts/ideas?
muel
Here is another way to go... Thanks @thebes and @michael hurd (and others)! I made one of these myself but I made it a bit shorter which put it a bit closer to the tubes than I intended. To improve the heat flow I made small black acrylic footers for the case so that air could flow freely under the case from both sides. Raised it only about an eighth of an inch but was much cooler. It was my first project with acrylic and took way longer than it seemed like it should. Drilling the holes was quite tedious but I managed to not have any cracks. The secret is to practice on scraps first so you know how much pressure you can exert (or not).
thebes
That's a very nifty cover that guy built. Problem is it will capture the heat from the tubes and get fairly hot so not so good for your purpose unless you make it fairly tall. The acrylic method is safer but it takes more time. Years after I did the above posting I put together a complete tutorial which I published here: https://audiokarma.org/forums/index.php?threads/make-your-own-acrylic-cover.149130/ Oh and thanks for remembering my post after all these years Muel. I'm flattered.
Marvel
The metal probably vents as well as the acrylic and the acrylic is more of an insulator. Looks cool, though.

But ... checkout FleaBay/etc ... sometimes you can find original wood cases for $
