wnabphil78@gmail
I have a completely restored pair of KLF 20s with the Crites upgrades, have a chance to get a pair of Dali 8 from the 80s, how would you compare? Should I sell the 20s for the Dalis? Thanks Tom
Moderators dtel Posted June 17, 2019 Moderators Share Posted June 17, 2019 No help here since I have not heard that model, but it will require alot more power at 88db sensitivity. Maby try to listen to them?

pzannucci
Dali moved from that configuration to tweeter modules with ribbon and dome. They must have thought the new modules sounded better. As far as sound, I have only heard the newer Dali speakers in the 2003 or so vintage. They sound comparable to their price range. For sure not out of that. If you were talking Dali's higher end, if you have a few hundred good clean watts to drive them, then you'd have something. But then again, you might like the sound so go listen. The KLF-20s crushed a lot of competition in comparison tests when they were available from Klipsch but the sound may not be for you.

moray james
most (but not all, early versions were shipped with all phenolic diaphragms) KLf20 and KLF30 were shipped with black shiny poly tweeter diaphragms and these result is a significant drop in sound quality. You can upgrade by using stock K79 phenolic diaphragms or get an even larger jump in performance switching over to the Bob Crites titanium tweeter diaphragm. In either case you will have a huge step up from the poly tweeter diaphragms. This has a substantial impact on the over all speaker presentation.

They have already had the Crites upgrades thank you ☺️
