kevinmi Posted June 17, 2019 Posted June 17, 2019 I live in Michigan, where it is 56 degrees out right now. I have to turn on my tube amps to help warm up the house. 1 1 Quote
avguytx Posted June 17, 2019 Posted June 17, 2019 Your Adcom speaker switcher is going into thermal overload? I've not ever heard of that happening before even when I sold those things when they first came out. You figure those are kind of like other electronics; after so much use, those internals are finally going to break down and not function properly like receivers, amps, crossovers, etc. How much power are you actually running into it and how loud are you playing? 1 Quote

I did a DUMB thing! I first put my ADCOM switch on TOP of my McIntosh MC2105 power amp towards the rear over it's ventilated case! Stupid I know! Now I have the ADCOM switch over the amp's wood front case and a FAN on them both! I was driving JBL Control X's outdoor weather resistant speakers very hard as they are NOT very efficient! Like 80dB. Not super sensitive like my Klipsch La Scala speakers! 113dB! :-) I drive my La Scalas with about 5-10 watts to blow the roof off the house! 10 watts would make a JBL Control X sound nice but not loud!
