MLR
I bought my Heresy's in 1978. They've lived a rather pampered life and if I can trust my 60yo ears, they sound as good as ever. I happened to see some on E-Bay listed for up to $800. I know there is a difference in asking price and selling price, but could they actually be worth that. Marvel
Possible... are the one on ebay all original or with various parts updated? Mint cabinet and all variations could get a high price. I would cosider $800 as pushing it a bit. Bruce
Blackbird
I still have two original pairs of Heresy I in excellent condition with consecutive serial numbers. I bought both for $350 and $400 respectively. In my opinion, I don’t think they commence with such high prices.

Back in '78 $800 would buy 1000 gallons of gasoline at retail. Nowadays, what, maybe 300? And I'd not buy a pair of '78 Hereseys for $800 no matter how mint they may be. $800 would represent exceptional value-holding ability but even at 30% it's not all that... It's more the nature of fiat "money" that $800 could even be asked at this time, IMO.
MLR
I figured the asking prices on E-Bay where too much. I've had a friend trying to talk me out of them for years. I mentioned the E-Bay prices to scare him off and it started him bidding. He got up to $400 and I was sort of tempted as I mostly use headphones now. But new "Quality Speakers" are insanely expensive now and I'd probably not replace them. It sounds like I'm trying to talk myself into keeping them.
