OK; I am lazy :D  Hats off to those who make the mix from scratch ... I don't.

Use a GOOD Tequila (I usually have Patron Silver), then add "Drego Azul Supremo Margarita Mix."  (Available at Total Wine and many liquor stores.),  Add ice; top off with Countreau and Grand Marnier - haha essential. :D

Cheers, Emile

When I worked in bars 25 years ago I did this:

Cuervo gold - probably different alternatives today, but Cuervo gold had just the right taste and bite for a Margarita.  Remember, you are putting a strong sweet and sour in there.

Contreau (instead of triple sec)  You can also use Grand Mariner

A little sugar and fresh squeezed limes and lemons (in place of sweet and sour powder mix)

If handy, a little shot of cranberry juice.

Better than the mix and serve it on the rocks.

Squeeze the lemons and limes and put them in the shaker.  Shake it (not stirred) until the ice pulverizes the citrus.  There should be lots of pulp floating in the drink.

I guess i’m in the minority here ... good tequila is drank alone.  I’m not going to mix it with anything.

I'm right there with you. We just arrived home from the 13 hour journey from Cañon City, CO. No additives in the tequila I'm about to consume.

Regarding my earlier post about triple sec, I don't like it but my brain was dying and for the life of me I couldn't think of Grand Marnier.

Triple sec works for the college crowd though. Cheap and effective.
