tube integrated amp wood case

Hi,   obviously tubes get extremely hot,  i notice most tube gear is left without a wood case or cabinet,  is that just because the tubes look cool when the amp is on,  or do people leave the case or enclosure off for another reason?  i ask because i think i want a case for my scott lk 72, but dont want it if there is a dangerous downside to it.

thanks,

I've left the cover off my NBS preamp because I get a little worried about the hand built wood case and the bees wax capacitors... but the set up with cover on has never given me any indication of heat build up or potential damage from being enclosed. Craig also assures me that he's extremely confident that there is zero issues with leaving it enclosed.
