R-112SW Current Status

Hello,

My first post as I could not find relevant info on google.

I purchased R-112SW a year back and is working fine.

Last week, I picked up another one at $399 since its out of production and prices went down.

Have been reading about the amp issue on net and wanted to get an idea about the average life expectancy of this model?

I can still return the R-112SW and get the SPL 120 but somehow I wanted to have the same one since I already had one.

The subs sound awesome and would be really depressed to see them not work someday :(

I have been turning off the main power supply every time I finish using my system in order to avoid power flow through the board and increase the life of the sub.

Lets see how far I can stay lucky!

Cheers!

I might be wrong, but I think I've only heard people complaining about the amps in the 15 inch version (R-115SW). I'm sure others will correct me if I'm wrong about this, but as far as my 12 inch goes, I've had my R-12SW (a step down from yours) since May 2016 and I use mine every day for 6 - 18 hours a day (music, movies and series's) and I use the auto power on/off feature, so power has been constantly connected to the sub since I got it.

So unless others report differently, I would keep the sub if if you like it, and use it to its fullest potential... and if you're one of the unlucky ones and it lets go, then contact Klispch support or your dealer to see how they can help you.

I hope this helps.

I had raised a support request with Klipsch and got a reply yesterday.

They stated all is well with the current batches of R-112SW. They did see widespread issue with the initial batches and they took corrective measure and fixed the successive batches.
