hey guys, i bought the rp 600m and now im having much fun testing the speakers, finding good positioning, break-in, etc. I also have an roland jd xi synth. My question is if its safe for the speakers play the synth with them or it's more apropriate have a dedicad amp. I mean about the frequencies, this would cause some damaged for the woofer or the hornet? thanks

I agree level matters but the vented home sub has a higher risk of damage because while you can smoke it playing too loud you can also smoke it playing it too low and it won't sound all that loud due to the roll off but the zero load will get you into trouble. Most folks expectations of musical instrument levels and home playback differ. If you are aware, you take due care and notice there should not be a problem. But hey how many posts do we read of someone who goes out to see a used set of speaker auditions them buys them then a week later is asking why the mid and tweeter don't seem to work? I think to err on the safe side is more useful than not. All this said dirt cheap used pro gear abounds so why not buy something designed for the task at hand?

Yes woofer unloading below port cut off and flapping around won't sound loud but will destroy itself.  Not too hard to do in a small bookshelf.

High pass / subsonic filter (with a higher than subsonic cutoff) should be employed if you try to do this.

How loud do you want to play? You should be OK as long as you don't go crazy.

the sampling/s on my [junk] keyboard seems to vary in signal strength/intensity and will rattle its on board speakers depending on "tone" used. Don't know if this relates to your Roland and setup you are using.
