Was listening to some of those for the last few days when we were in Arkansas, pretty impressive filling a large metal building for speakers that size.

NO doubt. I used them outdoors and likely nowhere near their capability and they had shit eating grins on multiple people's faces, with the biggest on mine.   In my smallish listening space, the 3 Way 362s just do better at any sane volume.   At rwaomably volumes, the 396s ALWAYS encourage a few clicks up on the volume knob, most for the highs.   I removed the grilles and used cables to flavor a hotter treble with decent results, but it just wasn't quite enough.

Low 120's peak ; did it once around 13 years ago . I played Maroon 5's This Love 😀

According to an spl calculator that was posted here years ago I should be good for 134 db's 😜

I don't know that I would WILLINGLY measure that high, but might be comical that I was likely within range of the first number plus

SMART man. I am NOT a 75 dB or less guy on here.   One of the biggest benefits of horn Speakers IMO.  Effortless and low distortion at just about any volume along with not being all that picky on placement and or amplication makes Klipsch a fantastic speaker in general.  Oh.... First and foremost.... The price.

I always poke the bear with a stick on this one......   Only horn loaded bass bins are effortless with low distortion????   How about the nasty old reflex speakers?

Isn't the KPT 415 a 107db bass bin.  And it has a Slam Factor of 10!  :emotion-14:

And PS: Maroon 5 sucks       big smile

Almost 10 years ago when Roy was designing the 396 he used them out at the park for all the bands to play on for pilgrimage, 6 on each size still in rough wood and not finished. Had a few subs in front of the stage to help out. It was pointing out across a few baseball fields and sounded really good.

The sub pic is from the next year with some 600's but it was the same subs with the 396's the year before.

well, i need hearing aids to hear below 70db so “too loud” really isn’t in my vocabulary. Hot Shot ear specialist asked me, after testing, “has anyone ever told you what is wrong and what you can do about it?”  i said, “well my Mom used to yell “turn that down.”  He said it wasn’t from loud music ... tissue growing over the bone is keeping it from vibrating sufficiently. he offered to cut out that bone and replace it with a piece of pipe. I declined when he said that i’d still need hearing aids.  Why go through the risks of surgery if I’m still going to have to wear hearing aids?  sounds like no progress to me.  But, apparently, it would keep my hearing from getting worse and there is a point of no return, meaning at some point, my hearing will get so bad that the surgery wouldn’t be effective at all. I go back to the Doc in a couple of weeks to have the surgery explained to me. Most likely still won’t get the surgery. I wish i knew how long i was going to live, that would play a role in the decision.

was talking with my cousin’s husband. he’s had a heart attack. he said he got up from the chair and his wife asked him what was wrong. He said nothing was wrong. she said you look horrible. Then he said he got a pain in the chest, shot down his arm all the way to his wrist, then it was lights out. He didn’t remember a thing after that until he was at the hospital. He’s also had a minor stroke and said the same thing ... came on suddenly and he didn’t remember anything afterwards. He said, “that’s the way, i want to go,"

I had a few bears today and got a crazy hair and wanted to see how loud my speakers would get. I usually don't listen crazy loud and just turned it up for a very short time. Just checked with the db meter on my phone. I got it up to 110 db and could not believe how loud it was. It may have gotten louder but I stopped there. How loud have you had your stereo?

124, but that was the subs.

Eh...... I find this intersting.   Downloaded an "app" that I saw pictured here awhile ago. No way in HELL I have to shout LOUDLY to have a person next to me hear me above 75 dB average.   Now I see where the "I listen to everything at 75 dB or below" on the forum comes from.   I have a STRONG suspicion Db level varys wildly due to scale and object of measurement.
