That makes me wanna get started ahead of schedule.

The port would be changed some I think. The length from the inside back of the cab to the beginning of the port is 4”. Length of port at 10”. So would we be shortening the port a bit as well?

Yes, cut the top shelf back by 2 1/2 to 3 inches max. Here's the resultant curve vs. a full size Cornwall with a K-33. I have said all along that the Midrange response of a Kappa 15C was better in a LaScala, but as you can see from the curve, the midrange portion of that woofer is better in a Cornwall too. It''s actually flatter in the bass/midbass detail in the smaller cabinet, so you WIN both ways here.

I confess in all my woodworking I've never used Baltic Birch plywood, ...

Every layer of Baltic Birch plywood is superior to the typical plywood sheeting. Some construction grade plywood inner layers feel like soft wood fillers.

Klipsch used plywood on their flanges for years and years, so have i with no issues.

Yes, Klipsch uses a high quality grade of plywood and I guess you do too.
