h-wo 16n678 and 673 F

Recommended Posts

I have a pair of 1975 H-WO spaekers.

There is a letter F on the top right corner of the manufacture sticker.

Is  F the initial of the person who built these?  Would you happen to know the person"s name?

Sean

The letter F is hand written and not part of the serial number. Any additional history on these 2 speakers would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I believe "Inspected" is the builder.  Look for initials in the upper corners of the rear edge plys.

It appears from the logbook that they were keeping track of pairs with a letter.  677 and 678 have the "F" designation.  673 and 674 have a "D" designation.  Yep, 675 and 676 have an "E".  All were shipped Sept. 5, 1975.  My guess is that yours are not perfectly grain-matched.

"Inspected by" signature line was actually the person in final assembly who installed the drivers/horn-lenses and networks into the speaker cabinets, then closed up the cabinets prior to them being tested.
