RIP Neil Peart

Recommended Posts

My friend of 45 years is a drummer and the best man at my wedding

He liked Neal Peart for his drumming abilities

A gifted drummer and a Prog genre pioneer after the English bands started it all

Long live Prog

Dad took me to the moving pictures tour in 1981 as i was only 12 at the time, i remember how impressed he was about 3 guys putting out that much sound.

Sad to see him go.

I saw them a couple times, I think the last was on the 2112 tour.  They kind of lost me musically not too long after that.  I still consider the drum solo on "All The World's a Stage" live album to be the best recorded/released live solo ever, if even only by a little bit.

He most certainly had skills and a great Muse.

He was a master of counting and bringing perfection to all of his work.  He would be the first to add that he didn't get a solo right or was off here and there with specific track performance, noting that he could only nail some of his work 70% of the time.  Not only that, he was behind damn near all the lyrics on all the albums.  One thing I never knew about him was his height at 6'4"     Very sad indeed.     Their multi channel offerings are great and really emphasize Niels work.  Now if I could just afford Hemispheres on bluray

One of my first musical heroes is gone. May you roll the bones up in the sky. You moved us, you moved us.

And he was into BMW GS motorcycles. He even attended most or all of one of his tours by motorcycle, not all

that long ago, 2006 maybe.
