Recommended Posts

Yesterday was another long day (five I guess) of just letting it soak in, about 3 hours per side sitting in a puddle of oil. this picture is just after lightly hand buffing with a dry cloth.

The sunrise was good this morning so I dragged them into the light - no flash

H700 on left and Heresy on the right, they both have that dark walnut look to then now:cool: I think they each ended up with 6 coats of boiled linseed oil.

The risers were just set aside when I got the Heresy's and I was going to glue the loose veneer back on but there was also some missing so it took the back seat and just sat. After installing all the components I just looked at the risers and placed them beside for a before and after of what a half a dozen coats of oil will do.

2-23-2020 - just to add some closure to this topic

I built some slant risers, the topic is posted in mods section of the forum

I think they came out nice for the amount of money and time spent, they are not perfect nor was that the intent. They may be too nice to put into the rear seat area of my extended F250 pickup, I'll just have to see how it goes...:unsure2:

Thanks to everyone for looking, following along and the words of support

@garyeandersonWhen the weather breaks I will be veneering a set of 904's in walnut and this thread will be the inspiration.  I didn't know what direction I was going to go with until now.  It won't be cheap to do but it will make the wife and I happy.

Thanks
