LA-FAYETTE LA-22 48

Here's a Lafayette Stereo 250A I've been poking away on.

An Integrated push-pull EL86 amplifier of American manufacture.

Though some seem to think the output transformers could be Japanese.

The knobs are not original of course. Most the original knobs were gone when I acquired the amplifier.

My guess is, one Lafayette Stereo 250A in thirty will have the original knobs.

The brown inner concentric knobs are Eico. The white outer knobs are Fender. I had to drill out the Eico knobs to fit on the outer concentric shaft, and shorten the Fender knobs to affix to the inner shaft. I have no idea what the two outer knobs are pilfered from...

Nice! How does it sound? Have you done other renovations inside?

I just started power-up/biasing and troubleshooting.

I used snap-in capacitors for the voltage doubler.

They are quite smaller. So I mounted the caps to perf-board, and then attached the perf-board to the chassis.

I suppose it would be a re-cap/refurbish.

Good luck with your project! The layout looks nice. At first sight, I think your amp has already been overhauled. If it plays alright, I would enjoy it for a while.

I read somewhere that these amps were diy kits. Is that correct? Perhaps not all of the models?

I think the kits were designated KT-250A. I think mine was a kit.

Japanese KS Musicmaster "Point one Five".

Thanks! I love idler drive turntables. I have a pretty large Plinth, that I made, under my TD-124, but not nearly as large as yours vertically. I really like the scale and visual appeal you have going! Thanks for sharing.
