bharat
I have the opportunity to buy this Marantz 7 to pair with my existing Marantz 8 that I will play via my Forte II. Down the road my plan is to upgrade to La Scalas. Thoughts on the condition of this example? Should I pull the trigger? Price seems comparable to the going rate for this model. Thanks in advance, Bharat
Emile
Looks very nice, but sorry ... no experience with the model 7. Saw some "big" prices onFleaBay ... and a better price on Reverb ... https://reverb.com/item/31290963-marantz-7t-preamp Have owned many (cheaper) Marantz units and have always been very please with them. Still have a 2252B and a 1060 ... will probably put those in the garage Sale section shortly.
tube fanatic
Although some work has been done on this, it may need a great deal more so you need to consider the cost of a total restoration. Read through the following thread before you purchase as it will provide you with much useful information: https://audiokarma.org/forums/index.php?threads/ultimate-marantz-model-7-restoration-thread.727823/ Maynard
tube fanatic
Forgot to mention that the input sensitivity of the 8 may, depending on your sources, allow the use of a passive line stage instead of a preamp. With LSs, the power need is often so low that this can work out quite well. Maynard

sunnysal
It looks like it has been completely recapped. So additional restoration expense may not be much, any chance to audition before purchase? I have a friend with a vintage Marantz system with a model 7 pre and model 8b amp and it sounds wonderful. I have a 7t and love it with my custom 2A3 amp, though mine is not tube based it is built like a tank, just like yours. This could be your last pre! Let us know what you decide.
