Sladetroityer
Hello All, I’m new to the forum and recently purchased my first pair of Klipsch speakers from Paducah Home Theatre. Thanks for taking such great care of me Cory!! For my first set of speakers since the 1980’s I decided on the Heritage Series, Forte III’s. And I’m quite happy with the investment. These are some of the finest speakers I’ve ever heard and they also look the part. Does anyone care to share their expertise on speaker placement for optimal listening sessions? Currently, I have them set up in an area of my basement about 15’ x 10’, with 7’ drywall ceilings. Any input is appreciated.
pbphoto
Congrats on your speakers and welcome. Carpet on the floor. Speakers centered on the wall (not sure if it is the 10' or 15' wall), spaced about as far apart as they are from your listening position (equilateral triangle), toed-in pointed at your listening position, 2-10" away from the back wall. Play around with the spacing-width and toe-in to suit your tastes and room. Enjoy. In my case, I have an isosceles triangle with my speakers closer together than they are to my listening position. jimjimbo
Hi, and welcome. It would help to know what you are powering them with, your sources (vinyl, streaming, CD, etc). And your music preferences. Also, rugs, drapes, windows, furniture, etc. All make a difference. A photo or two of your setup would be good. Forte IIIs are a bit placement dependent, and some folks have struggled with this, mainly due to the rear passive. Any further info you could provide would be helpful. Sladetroityer
Thanks Guys. Currently, I’m powering them with a McIntosh MC2100 power amp and C26 preamp. I also have an MC240 and MX110 that I can be put into place. For the most part I play vinyl and CD. I guess my biggest question is how far away from the back wall should the speakers be set? At the moment, they’re about 15” offset from the back wall and toed in about 25 degrees. My listening chair is about 7’-10’ away from the speakers. Each speaker is equal distance from one another and the chair. However, the space lacks carpet. Is that essential? Also, Placing the speakers 2’ - 10’ from the back wall seems excessive. Can you elaborate?
jimjimbo
Certainly didn't mean 2 feet to 10 feet.....more like 2 inches to 10 inches......you need to play with that. 15 inches might be OK, but again, experiment. And yes, I would say carpet/rug is pretty important. And if it were me, the first thing I would do is put the MC240 and MX110 in place. Play with the gain a bit on the 240. Will make a big difference.
