bkwa1959
On my Klipschorns with ALK es400/es5800 crossovers I am getting a slight bass thump on certain music, I have changed amps and preamp and I still get the occasional thump. I get this with vinyl and digital.Any idea of why this is happening.
jason str
Is it random or certain track related ?

jason str
Likely the recording if that's the case. If not post back.
Rolox
Speakers are passive elements - they don't "thump" except if asked to do so. so I would think either the recording or something in the chain - may even be something in the electricity network.

bkwa1959
I changed from the 8 Ohm tap to the 4 ohm tap and that took care of the issue.

bkwa1959
I doubt it I used 2 different amps, Bob Carver VTA-20 and Primaluna EVO-300 and with both amps, I had the same issues.I changed the taps on both amps and that took care of the issue.I also swapped out crossovers I have ALK ES-400/ES-5800 and ALK Cornscala universals and both crossovers did the same thing. glens
I'm curious what a "bass type thump" is. Perhaps you'd be so kind as to describe it a little more particularly.
