Eric, you close to Pechanga?  Been there many times, may have driven past your place on the way????

doesn't seem like a bad area. Two of my closest friends live in the inland empire.

Yes Sir close. But if you went by my place you was lost:) Actually work a few miles from Pechanga, live perhaps 15 to 20 back in the hills.

Sorry man , dietary or teeth restrictions ?

neither.  I'm just the world's worst cook and with this pandemic, I've been staying home. Most fire departments pay me to NOT cook.  Paradoxically, I watch a lot of cooking shows on television and I think when this whole pandemic is over and I'm comfortable out doing my own shopping that I'll give cooking a whirl. Plus, I've got a serious OCD problem and raw meat freaks me out big time ... not beef; but I can't handle raw chicken or pork. it's tough being me sometimes.

If you weren't so far away I would offer my services as life coach . Step 1 buy a cast iron skillet and don't be scared to fail . With the steak above I would sear it at medium high heat 3 minutes , flip and sear 2 minutes . Then stick it ; not in the cast iron skillet , in a 350f oven for 5 minutes . Pull out and rest for 5 minutes and enjoy .

Getting the rest of the meal to come together at the same time is a different story . Baby steps

Have heard of smash burgers but didn't know what they were or cared enough to bother . Definitely gonna try a version of this .

One opened up here a while back. Tried it and was not impressed with the burgers at all. The fries? They were exceptional, crisp outside flaky inside and seasoned with garlic salt and some other herbs. The burger was greasy and I mean so bad that I tossed that >$7 burger in the trash and it wasn't onion flavored slime either. Could have been that particular franchise or cook, not sure.
