Good match for Klipsch Heresy III: McIntosh vs Accuphase

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone from Italy,

I have a pairs of Heresy III and KLF30.

I'm thinking of change my actual amp (Sugden A21SE) to upgrade with  a more complete model (with phono-in and main-it to link it with my HT amplifier).

I'm fascinated with historic brand like Accuphase, Luxman or McIntosh.

For my budget, for example, I might buy Accuphase E350 or McIntosh MA5300.

What your thoughts?

Thanks!

Cheers

PrimaLuna and Burmester is the best I’ve experienced on HIII in my living room. Luxman class A is a no-brainer, but haven’t experience it.

What Primaluna model?

I see Primaluna haven't passthrough or phono-in: is that correct?

Thanks

My Primaluna evo 400 Integrated has an HT pass thru but no Phono preamp - I use a really nice MUSICAL FIDELITY MX-VYNL PHONOSTAGE - best phono preamp Ive ever owned and I had some pretty good ones

I got McIntosh MA5200: what terrific combo with my Heresy's III!!!!

They seem completely different loudspeakers: more punch, more low frequencies and a larger sound: very good!

I can only imagine with an higher McIntosh, but at this moment I like this! 😉

Ciao !

Where in Italy ?

Congratulations on your Mac Heresy combination

You can't go wrong with quality components.

Every Amp has it's own sound, so more expensive may not sound the way you like it

When you get into the quality components, it's a game of 1% improvement to the gear, the room, the source etc .. With Klipsch, you don't need hundreds of Watts with all of the cost, weight, engineering complications and added expense

I like Mac and Yamaha sound from the 70-80s

Frequently, opening an outside door or window has the biggest improvement

A heavy curtain or book shelves behind your favorite chair can make big improvements

The Heresys will sound best on end tables so that the mid horn aka squaker is at the same level as your ears with the speaker flat to the table, no slant risers under them.

IKEA has some tables for 10 E each that work well

If you have a hard floor, an area rug will make a big improvement in the center of the room.

Hard walls, floors, windows all reflect sound.

If you want to experiment, it can be done inexpensively

Kenwood, Yamaha, Tecnics produced many great 30-60 Watt Integrateds with phono sections

These can be had for as little as 30-50 Euros

If you want to go a little further into the sampling hobby

You can learn to replace the capacitors on working units

One of my best sounding integrates is a Yamaha early surround simulation amp

It was the Statement Product for Yamaha that year, the pride of the company

Turn off the surround electronics, the analog stereo section sounds great compared to anything

I got it for free from someone clearing out their basement

Hi Bubo! I'm from Milan.

Thanks for your tips: I'll try to use Ikea "Lack" table under my Heresy's 😉

Now I'm trying also old KLF30's: wow! What blows!!! They are different than Heresy's: more punch, more involvement, maybe less quality in medium frequencies.

Both amazing speaker, with pro and cons: what are the best I guess depends especially from kind of music you listen to.
