I didn't think the sn conformed to the Klipsch format. They should only be a couple years old. Just wanted to confirm. I will ask dealer to send photo. Thanks!

It would have helped to say that you were looking at LaScala IIs.  👍

1000995_18_35_0003 & 04

1000995 = Part Model La Scala II Cherry

18 = Year 2018

35 = 35th week of 2018 >>> from Monday August 27 to Sunday September 2, 2018

Hello,

A new question here that relates I believe. After reviewing the info for decoding Klipsch serial numbers on this forum I am entirely confused as to why it appears such an esoteric formula. Could one of the wizards here please tell me what this La Scala serial number is telling me?! I am very new to Klipsch and appreciate the help understanding this cataloging system.

LSBR  = La Scala / Birch

28WO77  =  ?

Thank you,

Doug

Based on the below:
Your speakers are from 1981, which means they likely have AL crossovers.  Most will tell you they prefer the earlier AA or the AL-3 or newer crossovers.

From https://critesspeakers.com/:

KLIPSCH S/N FORMATS

DATESDESCRIPTIONEXAMPLE

1946-1947###001 (ending #021)

1948-1961†####0121 (starting #0121

1962-1983##letter####20Y1234

1984-1989YY WW ####89281234

1990-1997DOY Y2Y1 ####135791234

1998-2000YY WW ####00281234

1962-1983 Letter format

A = 1962  F = 1967  K = 1972  R = 1977  X = 1982

B = 1963  G = 1968  L = 1973  S = 1978  Y = 1983

C = 1964  H = 1969  M = 1974  T = 1979

D = 1965  I = 1970   N = 1975   U = 1980

E = 1966  J = 1971   P = 1976  W = 1981

NOTES

1946-1961 dates can only be found in log book (eng. Library)

DOY = day of the year

YY = year (i.e. 99,00…)

Y2Y1 = 2nd digit of year, 1st digit of year

WW = week of the year

Date code on drivers (1994) Example - 9429 = 1994, 29th week of the year / YYWW

† Klipschorns of this vintage had the s/n hammer stamped into the tailboard, woofer access door or inside

the woofer chamber.

Thank you very much for the info Opus!

These speakers are in excellent condition. I do not know the crossover number yet or the details of the many upgrades I know are out there somewhere. I do have two tube amps I would like to try them with though! Any thoughts on an offer price I should offer on these original, working unmodified units?

That info is wrong, at least for F. My Klipschorns are from 1968 and they are “F”.

Not G.
