Hopefully Bill doesn't want to take over the world anymore.

you can't run Apple products in high end servers , without MS ,  security on the Internet would be next to impossible

The point is that he is now stating this.  A week ago it sounded like wasn't even for kids going back to school in the fall is a prolonged amount of time.  He is now stating we can't stay locked down for a prolonged amount of time.  Very little regard for the economy.

We now know better and should be able to minimize the hot spots but only time will tell.  If a vaccine comes then great, otherwise we're all going to need to be exposed, testing sickness in exchange for life.

Bottom line is that he is driving this (though policy or through scaring people into submission) and needs to provide a realistic pathway back so there is a light at the end of the tunnel.  This is nothing he has done in the past.

He ain't driving anything. He's a public servant. Or is he the only one people are listening to? Why would that be?

This is Brix's bailiwick, what's she saying? Wait, didn't CDC issue guidelines, and unissued them? Is she even allowed to say anything?

What's our Govemor saying? It's his call, or is he leaving it up to county by county?

Flights are cheap, gas is rock bottom, everyone should fly/drive to a town of their choice in USA, catch a ball game, watch a movie, drop some coin, remember those who died for their country and get this place going again.

No but the press conference from yesterday should be easy. May already be on last page. She was smiling and was talking with a mask on part of the time.

Have to amend my previous comment, go to a place of choice except D.C., Maryland and Virgina.

She also said to remember to mark your balls and you should be only one to touch your balls. Sound advice

Doing our share - first night out for a “dine in” night out. Every other table closed, tables sprayed as people left, a Clorox wipe for the pen and your credit card, I’d imagine dining out is more germ free now than it ever has in the past. An adjacent mall had a fair amount of cars in the lot too.

Results

The researchers note that remdesivir treatment is unlikely to be sufficient on its own given that it has, at best, a moderate impact on mortality, so studies that combine the drug treatment with other therapies should be explored. But in comparison to another recent study on the effect of hydroxychlorquine on COVID-19—which suggests that drug causes a marked increase in death—this work should definitely be considered a success.

The New England Journal of Medicine, 2020.  DOI: 10.1056/NEJMoa2007764  (About DOIs).

BS, Microsoft has less than 50% of the server market. 38% is linux, and while I don't like a lot of things about Apple, it was based on linux flavors, linux being a Unix look alike.

If you read this remdesivir study you’ll see how complex it is to derive conclusive results from ongoing clinical cases. It was well done. Now contrast the remdesivir study design with the paper from Lancet on hydoxychlorquine and you find a huge difference. The Lancet work looked at just 2 variables, whether people had ventricular arrhythmias or died. They ‘observed’ that hydroxychlorquine in combination with other drugs was associated with arrhythmias and did not reduce mortality. They made no attempt to categorize stages of the disease, level of infection, etc. It’s as though they went looking for the bad and left out any detailed study to show if hydroxychlorquine had ANY advantages at ANY stage of the disease. This is why that paper has been called limited and unable to assign cause and effect. Other papers on hydroxychlorquine have shown positive results and like remdesivir hydroxychlorquine may in fact offer some benefit. Other studies are underway.

It is not exceptional news that neither of these drugs are curative. I’d say the take away if the hydroxychlorquine must be used with regard to its safety....... but it may well still be worth using and a lot of clinicians still use it.
