Hi. Doesnt the new klipsch 48 have dolby atmos upfiring speakers like 54? How else can it be dolby atmos?

@Bigdrago

I can find no additional information on the new (revised) BAR 48 other that what was available at CES.

See this Klipsch press release:

A more compact Klipsch Bar 48 with Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual:X technology measures 48” and comes with a 10” wireless subwoofer for 3.1 immersive sound. An included HDMI-eARC connection as part of HDMI 2.1 allows for compatible TVs to transmit Dolby Atmos from built-in apps. It may be paired with Klipsch Surround 3 speakers (sold separately) for 5.1 surround sound. Available Fall 2020, US MSRP $699.

Here's a clip of Michael Buratto, Sr. Product Manager - Connected Audio, at CES describing the new BAR 48.

@wuzzzer Were you, by chance, looking at the spec sheet for the current BAR 48?

The spec sheet only shows Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD processing.

That is indeed the case for the current model.

Yes. But does it only support dolby atmos passthrough or does it simulate the sound as well with upfiring speakers like other soundbar with dolby atmos?

@Bigdrago

To the best of my knowledge, the product is not yet available. We'll have to wait until it is for answers to those kinds of questions.
