The Single Best Photo You’ve Ever Taken

sputnik

Recommended Posts

Having enjoyed seeing the many photos posted in the “Show Us Your Great Photography Thread,” I thought it would be interesting to see the absolute single best photo everyone has taken.

As a rule, I don’t like rules but for this thread post only one photo (1x) - your very best photo ever.  Feel free to edit and replace your photo as your opinion changes or if you capture a better image but one photo only.  Feel free to comment but please only post your very best shot ever.

I’ve posted this before but here’s mine - my once in a lifetime shot of the 2017 eclipse.  I was able to find an isolated spot in the path of totality in an area near Shoshoni, Wyoming - not another soul on the horizon.  Got the shot just at the end of totality for a “diamond ring” effect and hoping to see Baily’s beads https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baily's_beads. I was shooting bursts of bracketed exposures at 4 frames per second and the frame just before and the frame just after this one we’re not as dramatic - luckily, a split second at the right exposure made a big difference.  The actual image is sharper and more detailed than what displays here.

I like this photo quite a bit.

Best Joe 3.PNG

To be clear, the B&W photo is a Brett Weston. The photo of his image

with my reflection is mine. I like the effect, as it sort of reminds me of

Joi and Good Joe in Blade Runner 2049.

oh man ... I think I lost a LOT of photos. I thought they all were transferred to my new laptop but apparently not and my old laptop just gave up the ghost last week.

Not saying these are the best, but here are a couple that I have. Smith Rock in central Oregon.

On stage before a HEART concert ... couldn't resist snapping this with my cell phone. Something about the microphone and the empty auditorium that I liked.

Had photos from backstage of all the guitars; but those may be gone forever since they're on the old laptop.

Decades ago, long before smart phones or digi-cams, there was my trusty 35mm Minolta XD-11 mounted with Rokkor X lenses.  To this day, one of my most fav shots was taken with that camera while trekking through Yellowstone and its many hot spring pools.  Though it may lack the image sharpness and color vibrancy of today's modern cams, that old Minolta could yield some pretty incredible pics.

Thanks Bruce.  Looking forward to seeing what you share.  There are some good photographers here but I hope that anyone will feel like posting their best shot.  On photography forums, people can act pretty proud of themselves and get kind of snooty (maybe like certain audio topics here) but since photography is off-topic here, we can just share our best images without critique.  I think one of the very best photography sites is 1x.com (sounds like porn but no).  You can only submit one image per day (1x) to be approved by the site curators to be posted - amazing images and no attitude.  Check it out.
