I am happy to be corrected

But Klipsch are known for Horn speakers

They don’t look to be either Klipsch or horn speakers

They were experimental versions. 😃

Due to their rarity, they command a very high price.

Aren’t oval drivers nearly always used in car stereo applications, due to space constraints?  There’s plenty of room on that motorboard.

Typically, but not universally.  I used a pair of KEF B139s in DIY TL speakers for years.

In this case, I think the 6 x 9s were just lying about after they were salvaged from the Pinto fire.

May have had some of those oval speakers in my old cars

They used to sell a lot of oval speakers, plus cone tweeters, at Al Lasher Electronics, University Ave., Berkeley, to anyone with a few dollars.  People would put them in a nice, stained box, wire them up, and try to pass them off as audiophile speakers.  Some people were fooled.  Not too hard as long as they were all direct radiators.

Yes, most 6x9, 6x8, 4x6 or 4x10 speakers were used in the wonderful automotive world.  I remember back in high school spending hours and hours trying to modify the rear deck of my parent's '87 Buick Regal to fit a cool set of Kenwood 6x9's in there!

However, some snuck their way into home audio as well... some as active and others as passive drivers.

The newer version has an all-in-one tuner, amp, UPB ports, AUX, and CD player all built into the cabinet.

Newer version of what?  Looks quite a bit older.

Like the integration :-)  What dollars is that amount in?

Looks to be one of those speakers that starts out as a one driver system, then you add parts at your leasure.
