My point is that we all know when we've jumped to a conclusion, we all know that we're capable of being wrong, and we all know when we've said something with the intent to insult. There is no mystery to be solved here. I think the focus is misdirected. It's not the subject matter that any moderator or Klipsch should be worried about ... it's the behavior of those that continually resort to ad hominem attacks. Why focus on the former when the obvious problem is the latter? I don't think that my statement should change regardless of the topic, time of day, or who are currently posting. Common decency is common decency. I don't think moderators should take it upon themselves to determine that someone be banned, that should be a collective decision by as many moderators as are available to avoid one moderator from misinterpreting the message of a post. A Lone Ranger as a moderator will be just as bad as a jerk poster. I'd would rather the moderators and administrator work the known problem and I don't think that has been done; therefore Klipsch going into Launch Mode on this matter is premature. That concludes my rant on this matter. You had me sold in your first post. The vast majority of people agree with you. As I said yesterday, you didn't owe me an apology. So our District, announced last week that it will be distance learning for, at least, first four weeks. He is a Sr. His big concern is football, played 1st 3 years. In Texas, nothing is bigger than Friday night football. Don't know if they will have a season. No band, no cheerleading, that's all you here. We could care less, at home is not as good as in class. My parents live with us, 81 and 89. Both doing reasonably well. Cannot let it come home, asymptomatic or otherwise. We were looking at having to consider home schooling if they were going to seriously look at back to school no matter what. My cousin is HS English and Drama teacher in Dallas area, they were very, very concerned. Backing off for a month made many feel better, but don't know what a month will do. At least they made a call, independent of what other States were doing. Really working hard to isolate folks and keep it from spreading through all our staff as well. Had one of our clients pass away, thankfully not from Covid-19. He was 94. tube fanatic Posted July 22, 2020 Author Share Posted July 22, 2020 My wife, a retired pre-school special ed teacher, believes that it will be impossible to ensure safety when working with special needs kids whose therapies often require various degrees of physical contact such as PT, OT, and speech. Also, there are kids who bite, scratch, put everything in their mouth, etc. Many will not wear a mask due to tactile issues. Others learn by observing facial expression. How can that be done with a mask on? The school district does not have the resources to send specialists to the home which forces parents to send the kids to school. And, adding to the risk is that many of these kids have medical issues which may increase their susceptibility to the virus especially as it mutates. Lastly is the concern that if the teacher or even one child tests positive, the entire class will have to quarantine for 2 weeks. This is likely to be a major problem as is the usual issue of rampant illness spread which often begins within 2 weeks of school reopening in normal times. First, via news, I'm hearing that kids in school aren't catching it and (I think I heard) virtually zero has come down with it or perhaps died. Let's take that at face value as being true. I thought this virus was primarily airborne and if it landed on say, a desktop, you could touch the desktop and transmit it to yourself should you rub your eyes, nose or mouth. So, if THAT part is true.... then it's transmitted via airborn but also perhaps by touch. I'd liken it to poison ivy. You pet your dog who's been running through some poison ivy patches and you can get it transmitted to you via him having it rubbed on his fur. So if the kids themselves are evidently so safe that we need to start school..... and they don't seem to get it and are not a risk group.... ok fine. But what about them touching it like poison ivy and carrying it home as a gift to the rest of the family? My interpretation of what I've seen on the news is the kids start off sterile in the morning, let them go to school..... they are not a risk group so irrespective of what they go through at school, they will return home just as sterile as when they left?? I might certainly be misunderstanding what I'm seeing on the B.T. (boob tube) so I'll leave the door open that I'm dumb as a rock. If however, I am understanding their comments correctly, I don't see how that square story fits into a round problem........ it doesn't make sense to me. I've also read that catching it from contaminated surfaces isn't as high a risk as once thought. Of course all this can change as they learn more about it. Another district is “complying” by allowing students to come in only one half day per week. Went to Lowes yesterday, and while waiting to check out for 5 minutes, watched the cashier pull his mask below his nose and then pull it back up again at least 15 times. Unbelievable.......
