QUiKSR20
I own a Harmon Kardon AVR-510 So I dont have Pro Logic II like the 520 But I hear that logic 7 is basically the same thing. Emulates a 5.1 sound from a 2.1 source. My parents have a yamaha with PLII It sounds simular. I thought I was missing out not having PLII But it seams to me that LOGIC7 sounds better. What is the major diffrecnces in the 2? And which is better or which do most of you prefer who have recievers with both of these features. This wont apply to people who dont have both I understand. Thanks for any info, help or knowledge from this question.
j-malotky
Since Harmon owns Lexicon and Logic 7 was Lexicon proprietary, Im not sure if the HK version is stripped down or not? On my Lexicon Logic 7 sounds a lot better than any native Dolby or DTS. JM

Quick I tell you were you can get a lot of info on this would be to hit the Home Theater Forum There are a lot of Harman Kardon users there. I am certian if your questions are not answered here you could find out there.
boa12
from what i've seen logic 7, dts: neo, & DPL II all do the same significant thing: they take 2.0 encoded material & put out 2 full-range surround "channels". these "channels" are not discrete, but one of the above may make them sound more discrete & hence better than the others. i wouldn't think there should be a big audible dif between 'em, but haven't had the chance to eartest any of them here yet. but all 3 offer a big improvement over 2.0 material decoded in prologic I - that is where a mono surround "channel" is sent to the surround speaks & its not full-range to boot. dblue
My Denon has DTS Neo6 and PLII. Being a gamer, I can say that I prefer PLII simply because so many games are using that specific format right now. I also have used PLII for movies, although DTS Neo6 sounds about the same to me there. For music I stick to 2 channel.
j-malotky
JM So is that too say that you always flip your reciever to L7 for all movies? Moon Yes, I leave my MC-1 procesor on L7 all the time. It does a real good job creating a 7.1 out of a 5.1 signal. If there is a movie where the sound pans arround the room. It does a great job sending the signal from the sides to rears. I also hear more imaging between the Center and mains on L7. JM
