Buying a New Amp

Recommended Posts

Since my AVR crapped out, I'm really considering a Power Amp.

On the Low end side is the Emotiva BasX 5 Channel Amp.

Thinking this might be better than a Marantz AVR for

Power & Headroom and just better sound.

Or if I spend 200 more I could get an Outlaw.

I need a little advice.

@rebuy  So the preamp out on your AVR still works? Just the power section went out? I and others just want clarification.

I have 2 AVR's and neither have Pre outs

I'm gonna start all over for Amplification.

I think the HDMI Boards on my H-K are going bad

as I have skips on sound programs with my Cable

or it's their signals.

I never had those sound issues on the Denon

So what source is going to go into the power amp?

I have a Marantz AVR that came as part of a package deal with my RF7-IIs and RC-64II. Its OK but no regular FM tuner only HD. Currently I am using the pre outs for the front 3 going to an Emotiva 3 channel power amp. This saves the AVRs power for the surrounds and rear surrounds.

I went with a Marantz 5013 from Accessories4Less

The "newer" 5014 seemed to be having HDMI Issues

so for 50 bucks less I hope I won't get issues.

Now I'll have pre outs for Expansion
