Hello!
I just installed on my SL-1210G a beautiful MM Goldring 1042, with a Fritz Gyger S stylus, very high quality Swiss manufacturing. A great high-end 4th generation stylus, like VDH and Micro Ridge. Gyger makes VDH and Replicant for Ortofon based on this model, with perhaps some adjustments requested by the OEM customer.

@MicroMara The 1000s are variations of your beautiful Goldring 900s featured in this thread. 😍

I bought this beautiful 1042 from Thakker in Germany at a very very good price: 358€

For good sound results, you have to align, VTA and azimuth, with finesse.

Load the 1042 between 150 and 200pF: I am at about 30pF wiring of the Technics arm, 85pF for the cord and 50pF on my prephono, for a total of about 160 or 170pF.

Then you need a medium-heavy or heavy arm to take advantage of this cartridge, and especially to obtain good bass. Yes, it's because the stylus is quite "stiff" with @ 10Hz 10mn/N: I think I'll buy some heavy screws to weight down my headshell/cartridge assembly a bit and put the small additional counterweight from the Technics on the tonearm.

Hello!
I just received my "heavy" screws, they will allow me to use the Technics SL-1210G arm with its small additional weight and thus have a slightly lower resonance frequency. I go from 10 or 11 Hz to about 8 or 9 Hz, but above all the bass will be more present, because the Goldring 1042 likes medium or heavy arms, for optimum operation. Often listeners who find that this cartridge lacks a little bass use an arm that is too light.

so I go from 0.65 gr of screws/nuts

to 3.44 gr or about 2.80 gr more

The assembly done, the screws are magnificent and the listening excellent, with beautiful bass.

For those who would be interested, I bought them from Transcendent Frequencies on Ebay https://www.ebay.fr/str/transcendentfrequencies?_trksid=p4429486.m3561.l161211
