Icon SB1 optical input won’t accept the male end.

Did the optical cable input originally have a dust cover flap, similar to the gray hatch in my picture, the part that is pushed up during cable insertion? If that flap broke off, then the cable will be loose and not stay in place.

 

If that were to happen to the device in my picture, I would slightly loosen the nearby screw, wrap a twist tie from a bread bag around the screw and then around the optical cable to hold it in place until I could find a replacement optical port. Then I would install the new port.
