Vincent Gallo on mono listening

Recommended Posts

His description of his early days in audio are a riot.  I totally agree with his conclusions about mono listening.  I went back to full time mono, with a single speaker in the corner, some time ago and will never go back to stereo.  Even my collection of poorly mastered stereo cds sound terrific when listened to in mono.

Having a stereo system I will stick with it but I can see your point. Been digging into receiver FM stereo circuits and have found that some are nothing more than mono split into two channels and called stereo. You do get the to see a stereo light to come on fooling you to thinking you are getting a stereo broadcast sound. Not sure all receivers are built this way without digging further into receiver designs. Stereo was the best thing that happened to sellers of equipment. I can still remember when quadraphonic was all the craze. Died out to reemerge as home theater 5 way systems.

I love Sound Practices. I bought the CD of it from Joe Roberts. Its fun to see them in the beginning sort of poo poo Klipsch. Then not to many issues later it was build as just what they needed for their low powered amplifiers. Good stuff.

Here is some modern Vincent Gallo 8-)
