2 channel rf-7III music listening vs three channel listening.

I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this. In Most or a lot of situations. I’ve noticed I’ve liked playing three channel music better or it’s acually 5.1, it’s just my I don’t really notice my rears so I just like to call it 3.1z Like having my rc-64III going along with my two rf-7III’s. It just feels like the music comes alive more and the music stage is really opened up and everything just kinda opens up more. This was surprising to me because before with my old klipsch speakers I liked two channel listening more. But with this current setup I just feel the rc-64III flawlessly integrates in with the rf7-III and in ways is almost better than having three rf-7III’s. Not that I don’t like two channel listening or it doesn’t sound good cause it also is simply amazing. But I find myself forcing myself for lack of a better word to go to back to stereo when listening to music. I just feel three channel is  Superior To making to music Sound how it should sound or maybe just making it more appealing to me and being able to hear every little sound more easily in a lot of situations. And I say three channel but it also has my surrounds going but they’re quite low so I don’t even really notice them like if I was to have it on all channel or something so I just call it three channel. Probably do it about 50/50.

Paul Klipsch agreed with you--except he basically found it ca. 1958:

What I've found is that on my setup, stereo sources (two-channel) sound better in stereo mode, but the sound stage of the Jubs is huge--encompassing the entire front wall and part of the side walls, so switching to a synthesized 5.1 actually seems to detract from the minute details and some of the naturalness of the soundstage itself.

Not every setup is the same, and PWK was using Khorns and a Heresy/Cornwall/La Scala/Belle center (in that apparent chronological order), so the polar coverage response with frequency of your loudspeakers horizontally and vertically has a big effect on what you hear, I think.

Though I do love the way my RF-63s sound in just stereo, when the RF-63s, RC-64, RS-35s, and subs are running in NAD's "Enhanced Stereo" mode, it truly does sound "enhanced" with great imaging and a seamless presentation.

Bill

So enhanced stereo mode plays your center and surrounds? That’s cool.

It’s just makes sense. Why wouldn’t you be able to hear everything better with three speakers going instead of two. Sometimes I feel it’s too much for just two speaker to recreate everything as it should and that third speaker really just helps that last extra 5-20%. That’s pretty freaking awesome how Paul Klipsch felt the same way as me.. 😊. Thanks for that cool info. But ya like you said everyone is different and everyone’s set up is different which would probably have a big impact on it for sure.

Pretty much anything. But a lot of psychedelic electronic trippy shit. But also anything from a lot of movie scores to video game soundtracks to dire Straits. I love anything and everything that sounds good. Just starting to get back into hardcore music listening when I got my new music system just recently. Got some catching up to do.
