Corona Virus Disease/(SARS-CoV-2) II

I was just at Rural King buying some dry dog food.  Then I went by the gun aisle and to my horror there was a run on ammo.  There were NO .22's, .38's pr 9mm on the shelf.

What are your priorities, would you rather have the store run out of bread or 9mm?

I can make bread.  😎

My Mom raised 7 children before disposable diapers were invented. Sh*ty diapers were just a normal part of life.

We all have modern laundry machines. Oh, lets not forget snotty Hankies. All comes out in the wash.

First comment out of my mouth reading about all this utter stupidity was "Are they all crazy? Never heard of washrags and soap?" All my friends do not watch TV and clearly TV is bad for your mental health and self reliance. We all got tired of the lies and blatant manipulation just like is being done today and somewhere along the line we all stepped off. I watch those who rely on TV to run their lives and make  their choices for them with more than a little disgust.

This whole episode just reinforces and affirms the wisdom of my choice to move away from the city in 1987 and never look back. We don't think or act like city people and that is a real blessing.

People need to think out of the box, just a little. Why must everyone need to have “hand sanitizer” when even the CDC tells you to just wash your hands. Every home has either laundry detergent or dishwashing liquid so dilute some of that with water and put in a squirt bottle - Wash your hands. Take it in your car,  dry with a towel. We found plenty of the new “must haves” at Home Depot, Lowe’s, etc. Bleach, paper towels, surface sanitizer etc. Those that need spoon feeding right now are in a world of hurt - Think People

How does Coronavirus compare to H1N1? I don't remember all this panic over that one.

EDIT: I read wrong info

Approx 150k upwards of 575,000deaths for the H1N1... lasted from april 2009 to august 2010, almost 1.5 years. We are only 3 months into this.

About 6500 so far with Covid-19.

I neither watch network news and what short clips I see online do not influence me except to skepticism. When you can go to the CDC site and read this and then see the frenzied TV types freaking out at the stores I just sit there in a state of semi dis-belief over how easily people are manipulated and how if it is on the tube it is accepted with no critical verification. I see videos from China and Italy and read of bodies piling up but these same news mongers lie so much and all the time in areas I can check on that why would I believe them now? WHERE was the freakout over all these CDC recorded deaths? Reminds me of when the network news during Vietnam where they stirred the pot with a death toll each day on the 6:00 news and caused campus riots because they wanted an agenda accomplished and agit-prop became the news instead of real balanced reporting.

I agree that you should be a critical thinker, but be careful.   The news tries to scare the shit out of everyone to get viewers.  We know that.  But there is a big difference in the news conflating an issue and governments and private businesses taking extreme measures that go against their citizen's freedoms and profits, respectively.

Nations do not just go into quarantine and airlines do not cut 40% of their flights on news hype.  That can bankrupt them.

Here at home. MGM Mirage and Wynn resorts are temporarily closing (not all of Las Vegas, but these are two huge companies).  The casinos do not shut down.

Here is the story, Fox news, go figure.

And I can MAKE ammo, but I'm not stupid, I put back more than enough a long time ago!

I have a whole hell of a lot of gun friends from personal relationships and over a dozen sites I frequent and from what I am hearing, this is not happening nearly as much out in rural communities as it is with City Idiots.

Just my take...   Roger

I see that too and do not close my eyes but so far I have seen nothing that warrants all this. Of course the answer to that is that the measure worked and that is why the death toll was small. I get that but when the network news is built on so many provable falsehoods, fake news, which part do you believe and why should they be believed this time?

Remember the day when if you did something to yourself only you were to blame? Today these businesses have to shut down or face lawsuits later from people who knew the problem existed but went there anyway and then sue because the bad thing they knew could happen did happen. I like today's tech but miss the moral compass of 50 years ago.

I worked in TV news from '69-'80. Everyone I worked with, and all those I met, worked hard to be balanced and fair. A couple I met died doing their jobs so people here could see what was going on in Viet Nam, and during some of the fiascos in South America.

I'm done
