Corona Virus Disease/(SARS-CoV-2) II

Don't take my word for it but, my studying as an interest on this subject broadly suggests strongly that a vaccinated person is not a carrier. Although, it stands to reason a vaxxed individual can well breathe in the virus and carry it that way until eliminated.

A good question that has been researched but, no link in hand.

When did that view change?

You could still carry it but your viral load would be so low you would practically have to sneeze or cough on someone.

For ANY vaccine to have high community efficacy, you need to have 70 -80% vaccinated.

The situation with the Yankees is interesting. Is it break-through infection or a new variant?

As long as there are viable hosts, the higher the chances we end up with a variant the vaccine won't work against, or worse, something we can't beat.

Dropping the mask mandate -- think about what they are actually saying:

"Vaccinated people are going to be okay. Unvaccinated people have had their opportunities, but have decided to take their chances. Fine, the rest of us are moving on."

From the referenced CDC page:

* Taking steps towards relaxing certain measures for vaccinated people may help improve COVID-19 vaccine acceptance and uptake.

One misstep and we could look like India in six months.

CDC: Evidence suggests fully vaccinated people do not transmit COVID-19

More data is emerging about how effective COVID-19 vaccines are at making sure people do not get sick and reducing the chances they get others sick. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released data last week that shows people who are vaccinated can get COVID-19, but it is extremely uncommon. “There is this phenomenon called vaccine breakthrough cases,” New Mexico Human Services Secretary Dr. David Scrase explained.

WHO chief urges wealthy countries to share doses before vaccinating kids

The director general of the WHO on Friday called for rich countries to share doses with countries in need before moving ahead with plans to inoculate young people.

“I understand why some countries want to vaccinate their children and adolescents, but right now I urge them to reconsider and to instead donate vaccines to Covax,”

India COVID cases above 24 million as mutant spreads across globe

India records 4,000 deaths and 343,144 infections in last 24 hours amid reports that strain first detected in the country is spreading across the globe.

The B.1.617 variant of the virus, first identified in India, has been found in cases in eight countries of the Americas, including Canada and the United States, Jairo Mendez, a World Health Organization (WHO) infectious diseases expert said on Friday.

From the CDC vaccine faq:

“We don’t know how long protection lasts for those who are vaccinated. What we do know is that COVID-19 has caused very serious illness and death for a lot of people. If you get COVID-19, you also risk giving it to loved ones who may get very sick. Getting a COVID-19 vaccine is a safer choice.

Experts are working to learn more about both natural immunity and vaccine-induced immunity. CDC will keep the public informed as new evidence becomes available.”

So, it is quite possible that those who were vaccinated 5 to 6 months ago may no longer have sufficient resistance to the spike proteins to avoid getting as sick as the unvaccinated, or whether they even developed sufficient resistance in the first place.  It seems to me that the public has been given a very false sense of security regarding removal of the mask mandate.  Of course some scientists have said from the beginning that using a mask to contain a virus (unless specifically virus rated) is analogous to trying to keep out mosquitos with chicken wire.

It is a matter of course that there will be arbitrary information during a situation beyond the complete understanding of science at large in a  given circumstance where individuals are concened.

Yet, conceivable that a segment of the vaccinated population express doubt as to their future.

A proponent in this case, are forced to accept, if science has any significance, to accept the long and short of the ongoing.

T-cell recognition is the natural trigger, and not antibody, to produce the latter in numbers sufficient to supress the recognized intruder, in this instance. Vis a Vis ...it remains so to be seen. An old yet pertinent topic of note the future.

Thanks for the reminder.

500 made-in-Canada ventilators arrive in India

The support comes after Canada pledged to send medical supplies to help India response to its massive surge in infections. India also received 25,000 vials of the antiviral Remdesivir from the federal initiative, in addition to the $10 million pledged to help procure critical medical supplies from Canada.

Hormone Drugs May Disarm Coronavirus Spike Protein and Stop COVID-19 Disease Progression

Hormone drugs that reduce androgen levels may help disarm the coronavirus spike protein used to infect cells and stop the progression of severe COVID-19 disease, suggests a new preclinical study from researchers in the Abramson Cancer Center at the University of Pennsylvania and published online in Cell Press’s iScience.

Researchers show how two receptors — known as ACE2 and TMPRSS2 — are regulated by the androgen hormone and used by SARS-CoV-2 to gain entry into host cells. Blocking the receptors with the clinically proven inhibitor Camostat and other anti-androgen therapies prevented viral entry and replication, they also showed in lab studies.

The Seychelles is the most vaccinated nation on Earth. But Covid has surged

The majority of vaccinated people have received China’s Sinopharm vaccine (approved for emergency use by the WHO last Friday) as well as the AstraZeneca shot (known as Covishield locally, a version produced in India). In total, the Seychelles with a population of over 97,000 has recorded just under 8,200 cases and 28 deaths during the pandemic.

On Monday, the Seychelles’ health ministry reported a steep rise in the number of cases. From 120 new cases reported on April 30, a week later over 300 cases per day were recorded on May 7 and May 8, respectively.
