OO1
Hundreds of bodies found buried along Indian riverbanks Navneet Sehgal, a state government spokesman, on Sunday denied local media reports that more than 1,000 corpses of COVID-19 victims had been recovered from rivers in the past two weeks. “I bet these bodies have nothing to do with COVID-19,” he said. The Health Ministry on Sunday reported 4,077 additional deaths, taking the total fatalities to 270,284. Both figures are almost certainly a vast undercount, experts say. https://apnews.com/article/india-coronavirus-pandemic-health-88f11eb66e0f505fe941793c291bc946
OO1
A Super -Vaccine for Lots of Coronaviruses Could Be in Your Future There are more pathogens like the one that causes COVID-19. . And it may be only a matter of time before some new coronavirus jumps from whatever animal population harbors it to human beings. When it does, it could wreak as much havoc as SARS-CoV-2, if not more. That’s what worries a team of scientists led by Barton Haynes and Kevin Saunders at Duke University. And what motivated them, a year ago, to begin work on a new vaccine that could work against a whole bunch of coronaviruses. https://www.thedailybeast.com/a-super-coronavirus-vaccine-could-be-in-your-future
OO1
Further evidence supports controversial claim that SARS-CoV-2 genes can integrate with human DNA--Lab studies of genetically engineered human cells suggest the RNA (blue) of SARS-CoV-2 could convert to DNA in infected people and slip into their chromosomes https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2021/05/further-evidence-offered-claim-genes-pandemic-coronavirus-can-integrate-human-dna A team of prominent scientists has doubled down on its controversial hypothesis that genetic bits of the pandemic coronavirus can integrate into our chromosomes and stick around long after the infection is over. If they are right—skeptics have argued that their results are likely lab artifacts—the insertions could explain the rare finding that people can recover from COVID-19 but then test positive for SARS-CoV-2 again months later. 1

The federal government has only approved the vaccine for children as young as 12. However, Mike and Marissa Mincolla, both doctors from Baldwinsville, New York, said they had no qualms about their eight-month-old son, Vincenzo, or "Enzo" being administered with two doses of the vaccine at Upstate Medical University. CECAA850
Zero covid deaths in TX on Sunday. I think we were one of the first states to do away with the mask mandate. Abbott's decision to not require face masks. There are still many places that require a mask, which I don't mind because I think I've been indoctrinated by having to wear one for such an extended period. I actually feel strange when not wearing masks, it's like living in a lost world, which it most certainly is.

OO1
Vaccine boosters could be necessary as soon as September The first Americans to be vaccinated against the coronavirus could require a third "booster" shot as early as September, the CEOs of Pfizer and Moderna told Axios. What they're saying: "I think we will almost certainly require a booster sometime within a year or so after getting the primary [shot] because the durability of protection against coronaviruses is generally not lifelong," NIAID director Anthony Fauci told Axios' Mike Allen at the same event. https://www.axios.com/coronavirus-vaccines-boosters-pfizer-moderna-e8d6bed6-8238-4e52-9959-ca4c6a6e0d5a.html
OO1
India sets global record for daily coronavirus deaths India on Wednesday reported more coronavirus deaths in a single day than any other country at any time during the pandemic, while infections continued to spread through vast rural areas with weak health systems. The Health Ministry reported a record 4,529 deaths in the past 24 hours, driving India’s confirmed fatalities to 283,248. It also reported 267,334 new infections, as daily cases remained below 300,000 for the third consecutive day. The numbers are almost certainly undercounts. https://apnews.com/article/india-coronavirus-pandemic-health-ce604ee88062c459e0a3bd9f1e1ed686
tube fanatic
Apparently, vaccine passport requirements are not considered a HIPAA violation: https://www.nj.com/coronavirus/2021/05/is-it-a-hipaa-violation-for-a-business-to-ask-for-proof-that-you-got-a-covid-vaccine.html My concern is that if this is allowed to take place, proof of not having other communicable diseases like tuberculosis could follow. Sadly, this comes at a time when immunity from the vaccine may be gone after a few months. The newer vaccine candidates, which presumably will provide T cell immunity seem a much better bet to me. Maynard I believe there are some countries that require proof of vaccination of certain diseases. If you have no proof you get them before they let you roam around the country or you get sent back.

OO1
COVID-19 Vaccine Makers Are Looking Beyond the Spike Protein https://www.theatlantic.com/science/archive/2021/05/spike-protein-vaccines-covid/618954/ the spike protein was our MVP. Spike is a key ingredient in virtually every one of our current pandemic-fighting shots; it has been repeatedly billed as essential for tickling out any immune response worth its salt. our first generation of spike-centric vaccines will likely become obsolete. To get ahead of that inevitability, several companies are already looking to develop new vaccine formulations packed with additional bits of the coronavirus, ushering in an end to our monogamous affair with spike.
