It seems we are back to the Safety vs Advocacy situation.

In a nut shell, yep.  In one hand health and in the other wealth.  Guess health is taking a back seat.  I can now add Covid-19, Anthrax and Small Pox to the host of vaccines Uncle Sam has administered to my arms.

Thanks for making my point.  As information accumulates viewpoints change.  I'm waiting on some long term results as to what ultimately happens with your r n a.  No one has that info as this is too new.

Okay. Fair enough. My only continuing counter is that we do know that infected people spread Covid-19 and that most of us will come in contact with someone or are ourselves vulnerable to the worst effects of the virus. I actually trust the science behind the vaccines because the community seems to support it as well by making themselves "Lemmings." This last year we've lost well over a half million people to the virus and the vaccine seems like a better alternative and I understand the need to get to herd immunity.

I  am NOT an anti vacciner.  I get how giving you a small dose of something builds your bodys immune system and helps you fight it.  Its how I got over allergies by taking shots for 4 years.  All my children were vaccinated as well as they grew up.. This vaccine isn't that.  Actually it isn't really a vaccine in the traditional sense.

Understood on all fronts.

80% is great  , couple of months down the road   , the Variants will take over ----I doubt that the current vaccines will be very effective -

I hope you are wrong because it seems you are predicting the worse is to come regardless if we vaccinate--That's not what I'm gleaning but we are looking at the same material. Regardless, by July I predict the vaccinated people will be in better shape than those who aren't. We'll see.

Careful as to what you say Doctor

Kildare. That won't work!

I posted an earlier post about an Israeli study that seems to indicate that the Pfizer vaccine is not effective against the South Africa variant ---I hope these guys are wrong-  maybe Ffizer will need to make a booster shot ?

COVID-19 variants taking over in Florida

https://www.winknews.com/2021/03/12/covid-19-variants-taking-over-in-florida

Florida has the most COVID-19 variant cases in the nation, according to the CDC. These cases are emerging as some use our state as their getaway from the cold and tight pandemic restictions.

One expert says we can expect some protection from the variants thanks to the multiple COVID-19 vaccines that are available. But, that may not protect us completely against the virus.

Joseph Pepe is a spokesperson Florida Department of Health Officer for Charlotte County.

“Most counties in our area had their first cases around this time,” Pepe said.

Coronavirus cases were just starting to spread in Southwest Florida during spring break 2020. This year, Charlotte County Health Officer Joseph Pepe says we’re in a better spot to stop the spread.

I've been here. Outside of the Israeli situation you posted today it seems vaccinated people are still protected against the variants. Unvaccinated people not so much. I'm definitely staying tuned and the only dog I have in this fight is to survive as a society and get back to our way of life.

Speculation over variants and the current vaccine is not productive.

It only calls for more speculation.

No one knows what the outcome will be.

Moderna and Phizer tweaking boosters. We shall see what is called for, if anything.

I am trying to follow the science and not speculation on the internet. We've come a long way in a year and don't understand others don't see it. Masks work. Social Distancing works. The goal was to invent a vaccine while trying to get effective therapeutics if infected and on those fronts we are winning. To quote @Bosco-d-gama "if you aren't part of the solution you are part of the problem."

A third Pfizer dose? The Covid-19 vaccine maker is studying booster shots.

Despite the 95 percent effectiveness at preventing coronavirus infection after two doses of its vaccine, Pfizer is now seeing what a third dose might do.

The company announced Thursday that a booster dose is being studied among people who received their first doses of the vaccine more than six months ago.

In an interview with NBC News' Lester Holt, Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla said the hope is that a third dose will boost the immune response even higher, offering better protection against variants.

"We believe that the third dose," Bourla said, "will raise the antibody response 10- to 20- fold."

Nearly 40% of Marines have declined Covid-19 vaccine

Nearly 40% of US Marines are declining Covid-19 vaccinations, according to data provided to CNN on Friday by the service, the first branch to disclose service-wide numbers on acceptance and declination.

As of Thursday, approximately 75,500 Marines have received vaccines, including fully vaccinated and partially vaccinated service men and women. About 48,000 Marines have chosen not to receive vaccines, for a declination rate of 38.9%. https://www.cnn.com/2021/04/09/politics/marines-coronavirus-vaccines/index.html

So you're saying that those of us who have had or are getting vaccines are lemmings?  No doubt you jumped off the bridge last fall.   Too bad.

Never got an answer.  What happened last fall?

Now here is a question... if you get Phizer this year and next year they say you need a booster and Pfizer is not available for you...do you get Moderna? Possible problems with using a different vaccine?
