Han Wedge Posted November 21, 2020 Share Posted November 21, 2020 Hello everyone! My new home theater room is under construction. It should be 244"x164"x92" (6.15mx4.16mx2.33m). My primary use would be for watching movies (over 95%). I'd like a 7.1.4 system (maybe 7.2.4 later we'll see). The receiver will be a Denon AVR-X6700H. The package I have in mind is RP6000FB x2, RP-504c x1, RP-402S x4, SPL-150 x1 and CDT-5650-CII x4 What do you think about it? Should I get RP8000 and/or RP-502S instead? Going to the RP8000 might help slightly, and would eliminate any decision whether to go bigger or not. It's always a decision on upgrading or not, the 502s is definitely an upgrade. I'm not very familiar with atmos. Totally agree with all of this. To save a tad of money, get the setup you stated above but, get a second subwoofer now or in the future. I was specifically saying go for the RP6000F's and another subwoofer over the RP8000F's and a single subwoofer. Of course if budget($$$) allows. Duncan Posted November 24, 2020 Share Posted November 24, 2020 I'd definitely go for the RP-8000f. You can always add a second sub later. It's much harder to upgrade towers. The difference in price between the 402s and 502s is not great, so it's worth it to go for the 502s. Currently, I have the 502s as surround and 402s as surround back. I could update the surround back to 502s as well, but with the sound content being so minimal with surround back, I seriously doubt I'm going to hear a difference. Even with the surrounds, I'm not sure how big of a difference there really is between 402s and 502s, although there is a big difference in size between the two. Would RP-400M (or 500) be a better choice than RP-402? I mean those bipole speakers will have one side firing towards a wall (if you know what I mean). But my false wall can only be 23" deep. As RP-6000F speakers are 17" deep, it means that there's only 6 inches left. I've been told to keep several inches between the speakers and the wall (and to put some acoustic panels on the wall) and several inches between the speakers and the screen... moray james Posted December 9, 2020 Share Posted December 9, 2020 Acoustically transparent screens are not and loudspeakers that are used to play behind such screens are balanced hot to adjust for the screen. If you run a standard stereo loudspeaker behind a screen it will lose a lot of its top end, you would need to experiment with EQ to see if you could balance it back out. Worth a try. Good luck. Squirtgun Posted December 11, 2020 Share Posted December 11, 2020 (edited) I've bought 4 r625fa speakers for front and surround speakers and a r404c for my center channel I ve also bought two r12sw subs and I have a marantz SR6014 And I was thinking about buying rear surround speakers to complete my setup but don't know what to get.
