KLIPSCHORN ("KHORN") SPEAKER CONNECTION HELP AND ADVICE (Simplified)

If you are the owner of a newer set of Klipschorn speakers (AK-5, or AK-6) and are having difficulty connecting your new speakers the following information may be helpful to you.

  1. Did you purchase your speakers from an authorized Klipsch dealer? If yes, call your dealer for help, that's what they are there for. If you called your dealer and they didn't have an answer . . . well we can save that for another day. If no, go to No. 2.
  2. Have you read the instruction manual? If No, that's your problem, you are one of those people who think you know just enough to skip the directions. Go back, read the directions, study the diagrams, then get back to us in two or three days to tell us how they sound. If yes, you read the directions, do you have them hooked up exactly like the diagrams on page _____ of the manual (including the jumpers between the "LF" and "_____" posts? If yes, then send us a photo of the connections and we will let you know if that's your issue or something else
  3. You don't have a manual? Why didn't you just say so? Go to Klipsch.com, then Heritage Speakers, go to your model of speaker, find "Downloads" get your manual and read it, look at diagrams and if you have any questions, start at No. 1 above.

Those diagrams make it rather fool proof.  Perhaps we should have some made for the older style crossovers.

(I have to write up documentation for the IT department where I work. I include screenshots of the setup process as well as text directions. It's tedious and time consuming, but it pays off. Even when I have to install/setup something I haven't done in a while.)

Bi amping is only good if you don't go through passive components or you need Stupid Loud watts to burn up your voice coils.

Otherwise, if you are an amplifier guy, who wants to get the best of both worlds: You can have Tubes on the top end and class D on the bottom end, as recommended to me by Saul Marantz himself back in 1976. That would be the only Technical reason to do bi-amping. Sweet top end and powerful bottom end.

I´wondering right now whether I made a mistake or whether the drawing for Bi Amping has a failure . The drawing shows that Amplifer 1 should be connected with the dark wire from Amp + to Terminal H -  and bright Wire from Amp - to H + . Amplifer 2 is connected like it should be + to L + and - to L -
