1978 Cornwall - Specs?

Hi.

I just got some Cornwalls! I'm very excited. I'm working on selecting an amp and I'd like to know more about the specs on my speakers. The Serial numbers are 15S389 and 15S390. Would these be Cornwall I speakers? It would be helpful if I could see some documentation on it, in particular I'd like to know the sensitivity. Is it 98db? I'm seeing several numbers on the forum. Pics attached.

Thanks for your help with this!

Aaron

Thanks. I assume raw means just that. The customer has them finished as they wish. Correct?

Correct, customer did things like laquering them for one. If laq at the factory think there would an L designation also.

I believe there was a Cornwall which was meant to be situated landscape or portrate.  Neither the mid nor the tweeter were at the midline.  Also there is something with a K-1000 midrange.

Eventually it was superceded with what was initially called a Cornwall II.  This had the K-600 mid like you see, the woofer, mid and  tweeter were at the midline and it was presented as a portrate orientation speaker.  Woofer near the floor. Eventually the "II" got dropped.  This is probably why you see II on the spec sheet.

But then there was a switch to plastic tweeter and mid and that was called the Cornwall II.  Woofer moved up.

The above might have so errors but close.

the woofer was not moved up on the motorboard for the plastic horn k601 Cornwall II , all they did was front mount the woofer with a fancy ring ,  add the k601 and  the K75  , but they did move up the woofer for the CW III  setup-

Yes, WMcD, in 1985 the marketing department had "forgotten" that it was already a II due to the K-600 upgrade in the mid 60's.  So it's a two-two?

I always wondered why some of  the CW1  were Marked as CW II prior to  the CW II  with the K601-K75 ,  so the explanation makes sense , the CW with the  K1000 was the  CW1  and the k-600 CW is the CW II , and the 80's CW II ----Should be the CW II /II  -

Jeff , Quick question , Please , why was the Cornwall 2-2 discontinued by Klipsch  , were sales down at the time -

The Cornwall was discontinued due to the arrival of the Chorus.  The "non-engineering" argument was that the Chorus's bulk and performance were very similar to the Cornwall, and Cornwall sales that had been dropping were expected to plummet.  Even though all of the mechanisms to produce a Cornwall were clearly established, any proliferation of SKU's carries overhead baggage.
