No they don´t because they don´t decoupled the Fives from the wooden shelf. The vibrations are transmitted from the speaker cabinet via the aluminum platform to the wooden shelf 1

MicroMara
You can secure the speaker to the base plate with double-sided glue pads. It may also be possible to screw the speaker to the base plate. This varies from model to model

Thanks again. these stands are quite expensive , leave them as is ,you might as well buy a second pair of speakers for fuller sound , you can place speakers on furniture just as good as speaker stands
Bubo
Rolls Belari has lots of options for desktop and rack pro gear gets generally good reviews, I haven't owned one but would consider them if I needed product Tube and SS phono pre amps MM and MC https://rolls.com/products/bellari ART DJPREII Phono Preamplifier This one is also worth looking at, very popular https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/71rdJHaRTSS.pdf https://www.amazon.com/ART-DJPREII-Phono-Preamplifier/dp/B000AJR482/ref=psdc_689995011_t2_B002TD4GME

Could very much be so. And if you have a rectangular room and the speakers could be placed more or less in the corners, try placing them like PWK recommended. https://audiokarma.org/forums/index.php?threads/pwks-dope-from-hope-speaker-placement-guide.147798/ I confirm it works with my RF42IIs. Paul recommends flanking the speakers at 45 degree angle. Regarding that, I have mine speakers in long and narrow room placed on short wall. They play better when pointed to the diagonal opposite corners of the room. You can play with that. My workflow was to point the speakers (toe-in) and then try to determine the distance from the rear wall by listening what happens with bass. With that approximately set, then play with positioning in left-right direction. The speakers should always be placed symmetrically with respect to each other. It helps if tweeter is close to the height of your ears when listening. Do not be afraid to experiment with left-right positioning and keep them at equal distances from rear and side walls. At one point you should reach the sweet spot when music is just right. With speakers positioned right, there should be no significant difference in sound throughout the room. A note: your current aluminum speaker stands could work as a desktop setup, but not so much when listening at longer distances in your room.

I have to direct my attention to other matters today, but I will definitely be back here. So glad I stumbled upon this forum. ”There’s nothing more dangerous than a budding audiophile with a credit card.” Me. Evert H
For anyone else curious about the Fives’ internal phono amp vs an external one, I’ve recently bought a Pro-Ject Phono Box S2 to see if it would make any difference. I’m no audiophile, but I can definitely hear a clear improvement after hooking up the external box. It was almost like a blanket was lifted from the speakers, making records sound much clearer with more detail. It’s still a lot of money that you can also spend on a cartridge upgrade instead, but I think it’s definitely worth it.
parlophone1
Of course. I have not heard yet of any low to medium priced amp with built in phono stage that is better than separate phono pre-amp.
Nowhere27
I feel like this thread got a little off topic. I also have the The 5s primarily for my Hitachi HT-46 TT (with a brand new upgraded needle) and I too have been thinking of adding a external phono pre amp. I feel like the internal one is a little lack-luster (just not as good as I was hoping for), BUT I also want to add a headphone jack option. I now live in a tiny apartment with very thin walls and have had my neighbors knocking on my door because I'm rattling their floorboards (the 5s do put out an impressive amount of sound!) Has anyone tried or have any opinions of the Nobsound Little Bear T7 Vacumn Tube Mini Phono Stage RIAA MM Turntable Preamp & HiFi Tube Pre-Amplifier? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M7UGWU9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glc_fabc_PWNH7Y7QJDBH3A8NM6K7?psc=1 On the surface it seems to have everything that I am looking for but I'm hesitant to just straight buy it and try it out blindly. I'm new to this forum and so far LOVE this community! Glad to now be apart of it.
