Fred0550
I want to install R-12SW to my home stereo with Yamaha AX-596 amp. It does not have a subwoofer output. Can this be done? Yamaha recommended a Kicker KISLOC 46KiSLOC adapter. his looks like it is primarily used for car stereo installations. babadono
Looks like you could remove the pre out/main in jumper and using a Y adapter route the pre out into the main in and the input on the sub. Use the filter setting on the sub to do the low pass filtering. And yes welcome to the forum
Fred0550
Thanks for the response and welcome. I am not sure I follow where the Y adapter fits. Can you clarify for a newbie?
wuzzzer
This may or may not work. Remove the two metal jumpers on your receiver. Connect two RCA cables from the Pre Outs to the Line In inputs on your subwoofer. If you try this and don't have any sound from your receiver it's because there's nothing connected to the Main Ins on your receiver. Some receivers operate like this. So, the way you can do it is connect two Y adapters to the Pre Outs of your receiver, connecting one end of each Y adapter to your sub and the other end of each to the Main Ins of your receiver. Hopefully that makes sense!
babadono
Like this but you won't have the passive crossover between the pre out/main in. You will have some duplicate low freqs coming from your mains and the sub.
Fred0550
Thanks again for the information and diagrams. Very helpful. Just waiting for My Y adapters to arrive so I can proceed with the install.
