new Forte 4's

Recommended Posts

If I had to spend an extra $2300 I would keep the III's as well. That being said though the manufacturer has come out and said they made the speaker better, so do we stop trusting them? I would not buy the IV's or the III's for that matter if I did not trust Klipsch. It is all marketing starting back with the I's.

Again, not worth $2300 more but that doesnt mean they will not be better, everyone will just need to decide for themselves if they are worth it to them.

Debating on if it’s worth it to me to upgrade from my forte 1s with Dave A,s lmahl tweeters. If the first review I read is accurate the 4s improvements might make it even more enjoyable than my current setup. Always looking for that last 100% —- lol

yes this is marketing but I believe that this is necessary marketing and that is to keep up or get out. I don't know if you get out to the audio shops much but in the last half dozen years the sound quality of loudspeakers has been increasing rapidly all across the market especially in small compact two and three way designs. Klipsch needs to deliver more to stay competitive. That is what this is about and they seem to be responding with shining colours.

I agree. Trust me, I'm very happy Klipsch is still around and coming out with new stuff or trying to improve what they have. Everything in my house is Klipsch, always was and probably always will be.

Maybe I just got rubbed a bit the wrong way I guess when they glowed about the III's speaker in the not too distant past and now it comes off a bit like saying "well its just ok now" but this new one is a revelation!"  Again, no biggie and I am looking forward to users reviews in the future. While I really enjoy my III's, I'm not so sure the Forte's are a $4500 speaker. Again will have to wait and see how they are received by real owners.

It really is fantastic that Klipsch continues to support the Heritage brand and is bringing out these new models on a regular basis. I must say I personally am disappointed to see that the Chorus is obviously completely abandoned at this point. I am completely aware of what existing options there are, and why those options exist. I do not need anyone to remind me. This is just my own opinion and is the simply the only direction my money will flow. I am going to have to hit the technical/modification thread especially hard now. Congratulations to those who are able to take advantage of the the existing Klipsch Heritage speaker lines which continue to evolve and improve. I will be watching from the sidelines while I continue to enjoy my Klipsch Chorus II speakers which are in amazing condition and continue to perform, on certain subjective levels, over and above the Forte III.

From the description of the new Forte 4s it sounds as if the soundstage is greatly improved. More like the artist and instruments sound like they are actually placed in a space that doesn’t blend into one place nor does the sound retreat into the individual speakers. I’m thinking of taking the chance on buying the 4s and if they don’t sound much better just selling them at a discount if I don’t notice that marked improvement. Very conflicted as my wife and I love the speakers but I understand what Roy, Mark and Zach were saying about the possible soundstage improvement. I think that what is missing with my Forte 1s.

You have a lot of company in that regard, and more than a few were asking about a Chorus III in the Listening Lounge today.

My understanding on why the Chorus got overlooked is how and where it would fit in the current line up, or rather, that it doesn't currently fit in terms of price, size, specs. Where did the Chorus II fit back in the day? Above what, below what?

Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't the Chorus I replace the Cornwall when it was released?

That is my understanding as well. Both the Chorus 1 and 2's that I owned sounded better (to me) than the Cornwall's 1's with a much smaller footprint. That is why we are likely not to see it (refresh of cornwall) but hey it sounds like the Heritage IV series of speakers have taken things up a notch. During the last Bonehead class everyone that attended were very surprised by the IV series of improvements.

The KG, Quartet-Forte-Chorus and Legendary KLF and Epic lines all had their baby, middle brother, big brother and timbre matching center.  I can't imagine that was good business, but it was great for all of us.  These days, with the Forte's entrance into the Heritage lineup, there's no room for a Chorus with the Cornwall IV and there's no room for a Quartet with the Heresy IV. What would sell however, imo, is a heritage matched Center speaker and subwoofer :) The center can now be timbre matched to the HIV, CWIV and now Forte IV so it makes a lot of sense imo. IIRC, there was already a heritage sub in the works that never came to fruition?

Nominated for the comment of the day award.

To this I say that, as unfortunate as it may be, adding another new speaker in the line-up which would actually be "better" on some performance levels,  while simultaneously stealing sales away from the other existing speakers, is obviously not in the cards at this late stage. Manufacturing a better speaker for some of us is not always better for Klipsch from a net profit standpoint. To the exact point Maximus89 made above, a timber matched and cosmetically designed center channel and subwoofer would only add to sales without cannibalizing the existing Klipsch Heritage lines. I think it is well past due that Klipsch take their extremely financially safe and passive approach to preserving the Heritage lines as 2 channel specialist and expand to 3.1. at a minimum. At least this one time. I really feel they owe us this one. 20,000 units each to start. What say you "keepers of the sound"?

Timbre matching aside for a bit,

The Beast of a sub could still be in the cards.

Not likely Klipsch will show their hands in this segment of what is likely or not to occur for obvious reasons. Would speculate, we will see more, in due course of time.

Thanks!

According to history, both the Cornwall and Heresy started out as center speakers, so...a heritage center isn't taboo at all to the heritage prestige. Just needs to be horizontal for the modern home.

Some might include the vertical Cornwall laid horizontally.

Now your getting it! We are not talking about a plug in here. All before mentioned options that existed before were the result of the lack of a true center. We are talking about a true modern designed timbre matched MTM center for the Forte IV and for the Cornwal IV. Really want to crush the competition? Maintain a 3 way design.
