im sure others will have more suggestions,  but lots of guys like watco rejuvenating oil.  howards also has a "restore a finish" product in walnut color that works well. 


you can also stain them & apply a coat of poly for better protection than just oil.

You could maybe consider applying some paper backed Walnut veneer, for a "real" Walnut look.

I use Heatlock glue with a common household cloths iron.



It really is not that difficult and when finished with Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C (pics below are the "Pure" color), looks outstanding!
