Fasthenk65
Dear all, After listening at a dealer to some basic tube amps I let go the idea of driving the Heresy IV's (they arrive any time now) with a SS amp. Tubes are really marvelous... Dealer convinced me that maintainance is doable.. I made a shortlist based on what I found on the internet: - Mastersound Dueundici - Unison Simple Italy - Primaluna (100, 200 or 300, don't know the sound difference yet) Some advice would be appreciated! Is a simple unit (Simply Italy is affordable in Europe) sufficient or should I aim at the more expensive Primaluna line (based on reviews there's where I am right now..) A PL 300 would be how far I can stretch the budget. Room is 17 by 13. Thank you!! Edited February 14, 2021 by Fasthenk65
MeloManiac
You may want to look a the Synthesis brand as well, whose gear is made in Italy. Their entry level model, Synthesis Soprano (12W) is a very all round machine and has more than power enough to drive your Heresies. http://www.synthesis.co.it/product.php?id=90 https://hifipig.com/review-synthesis-soprano-integrated-valve-amplifier-with-dac/ Greetings from Belgium, btw! MeloManiac
That Union Research Simply Italy model surely looks very promising too! http://www.unisonresearch.com/en/products/valves/integrated-amplifiers/simply-italy.html There are quite a lot of fans of the Prima Luna brand here on the forum as well. The Leben CS300F (or CS300X s) also falls within your budget: https://www.hansaudio.nl/leben/

Fido
I love my Primaluna EVO 400. Paired with my new Forte IV it is a magical combo. There is a lot to like about the Primaluna integrated amp.

I had never heard a tube amp before hearing the evo 400. I had a very nice McIntosh ma252 hybrid integrated. When I visited Upscale Audio and heard the Primaluna I became obsessed with switching from the McIntosh hybrid and Upscale offered me a very healthy trade in. I discussed it with Kevin Deal and he said that any of the evo series would have plenty of power to power my existing Klipsch speakers. i wanted to get the best amp I could afford so I would not have to keep trading up searching for my forever amp and I am pretty sure I found that in the EVO 400. I do like the VU meters 🙂 much! Not so many dealers carry Yamaha amps here... Edited February 16, 2021 by Fasthenk65
